Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Limerick hurling. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at the Gaelic Grounds in October. The prize for the winning team is the John Daly Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a round robin format followed by a knock-out stage. The 2024 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 130th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick GAA, Limerick County Board in 1887 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, 1887. Na Piarsaigh (, ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 2-8 to 2-6 victory in the 2022 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over Dromcollogher Broadford, Na Piarsaigh are one of four dual senior clubs in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. Ballybrown GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Ballybrown, County Limerick, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. In 2018, Ballybrown fielded teams at Senior, Junior A and Junior B in hurling, while also a team at Junior A in football. Ballybrown's biggest rivals are neighbours Patrickswell, the two clubs sharing 22 senior titles between them. The club have two pitches in the village of Clarina. The 2004 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 110th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. The championship ran from 4 June to 10 October 2004. Patrickswell entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Knockainey in the quarter-finals. The final was played on 10 October 2004 at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, between Ahane and Garryspillane, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Ahane won the match by 1–11 to 0–13 to claim their 19th championship title overall and a first title in five years. It remains their last championship title. Castleconnell (, historically ''Caisleán Uí Chonaing'') is a village in County Limerick on the banks of the River Shannon. It is from Limerick city and near the boundaries of County Clare and County Tipperary. History The ruins of the Castle of Connell ( or originally ), from which the name of the town derives, was built on a rock outcrop overlooking the bend of the river. The 2009 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 115th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 10 February 2009. Adare entered the championship as the defending champions. Adare (; ) is a village in County Limerick, Ireland, located southwest of the city of Limerick. Adare is designated as a heritage town by the Irish government. The village is in a townland and civil parish of the same name. Adare GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club based in Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Adare have reached the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, County Senior Hurling Final on 12 occasions.
