''Like All Before You'' is the third studio album by the American band the Voidz, which was released on September 20, 2024. It was the band's first album in six years following 2018's ''Virtue (The Voidz album), Virtue''. Background This album is the band's first in six years and third overall, with their last being ''Virtue''. It is also notably frontman Julian Casablancas's first project following his Grammy Award win for Best Rock Album with his other group, the Strokes, for their 2020 album ''The New Abnormal''. The title of the album was inspired by a conversation between Casablancas and the band's bassist and synth player, Jake Bercovici, where the latter said: "Soon we’ll all be crusted and dusted like all before us.” Recording The album was recorded at the band's home studio in Venice, California, as well as at Vox Studios in Los Angeles. Jeff Kite (born March 19, 1979) is an American musician, composer, producer and member of the band, The Voidz. Career Julian Casablancas (Phrazes for the Young) In 2009, Julian Casablancas released his debut solo record, Phrazes for the Young. Kite joined Casablancas’ touring band, The Sick Six, as a keyboard and guitar player. Between tours, he began writing new songs with Casablancas and drummer, Alex Carapetis, in a studio New York City. Many of their demos eventually became songs on the debut Voidz album, Tyranny. Alex Carapetis
Alex Carapetis (born 27 April 1982) is an Australian drummer and member of The Voidz. He was formerly a member of Wolfmother, and has toured with Nine Inch Nails, and Julian Casablancas among others. Alex currently resides in Los Angeles. Early life Born in Adelaide, Australia, Alex studied jazz at the Elder Conservatorium in 2000 before moving to Sydney to further his music career. He finally relocated to the US in 2005 at the age of 23. Career Touring In October 2005, Trent Reznor hired Carapetis to be the touring drummer for Nine Inch Nails on their With Teeth World Tour, following the departure of long-time drummer Jerome Dillon, due to health issues.
