Algerian Women's D1 National Championship
The Division 1 National Championship () is the second-highest division of women's association football in Algeria. The competition is run by the Ligue Nationale du Football Féminin under the auspices of the Algerian Football Federation. History Ten years after the creation of the first women's division in 1998, a national league of two divisions (D1 and D2) was created in the 2008–09 season under the auspices of the Ligue Nationale du Football (LNF). Algerian Women's Championship
The Algerian Women's Championship () known as Elite National Championship is the top flight of women's association football in Algeria. It is the women's equivalent of the Ligue 1, but is not professional. The competition is run by the Ligue Nationale du Football Féminin under the auspices of the Algerian Football Federation. History In the 1970s, many women's football clubs were formed in Algeria as in Tiaret in 1975 but they only took part in friendly tournaments only. The first match was played in 8 March 1978 between Ibn Rostom High School of Tiaret and Frenda Women's Club from Frenda as a friendly game. Since 1990, other clubs began to appear. The first Algerian women's championship was contested in 1998–1999 season under the regional leagues format. Ligue de Football de la Wilaya is a football division in Algeria consisting of various provincial leagues situated at the bottom of the Algerian football league system. Most of the leagues comprise clubs from the same wilaya and are divided into honneur (honor) and pré-honneur (pre-honor) divisions, located at the 6th and 7th tiers respectively. Inter Régions Division (also known as ''Ligue Inter Régions de football'') is the third-highest division overall in the Algerian football league system. The division has six groups based on the region of the country, which are East, West and Centre-East, Centre-West, South-east and South-west each containing 16 teams from their respective regions. Each year the first from each group are promoted to Algerian Ligue 2, Ligue 2 and the last three clubs from each group are relegated to the Ligue Régional I.
