Liga Uruguaya De Básquetbol
The Liga Uruguaya de Básquetbol (abbreviated as LUB; English language, English: ''Uruguayan Basketball League'') is the highest professional club basketball league in Uruguay. It is organized by the Uruguayan Basketball Federation (FUBB). The Uruguayan Basketball League competition began in 2003. Before that time, the Uruguayan basketball championships were only local metropolitan, and no competitions brought together all the clubs in the country. Until the Liga Uruguaya de Básquetbol was created, the capital clubs participated in the Campeonato Uruguayo Federal de Básquetbol (Uruguayan Federal Basketball Championship), while the clubs of the rest of the country competed in regional tournaments. The Uruguayan Federal Basketball Championship was founded in 1915, making it among the oldest on the continent. Paysandú Department
Paysandú Department () is a department of the northwestern region of Uruguay. It has an area of and a population of 121,843. Its capital is the city of Paysandú. It borders Salto Department to its north, Tacuarembó Department to its east, Río Negro Department to its south and has the Río Uruguay flowing at its west, separating it from Argentina. The origin of its name is debated but is likely to be of Charrúa origin. History The first division of the Republic in six departments happened on 27 January 1816. Two more departments were formed later that year. Peñarol (basketball)
Club Atlético Peñarol Basketball, commonly known as simply Peñarol, is the senior men's basketball section of the Uruguayan sports club Peñarol, based in Montevideo. The team played in the Uruguayan Primera División, which was organized by the Uruguayan Basketball Federation, until the club was expelled in 1997. Estadio Gran Parque Central
The Estadio Gran Parque Central is the stadium of Club Nacional de Football. It is located in Montevideo, Uruguay, near Nacional headquarters (exactly between the streets Carlos Anaya, Jaime Cibils, General Urquiza and Comandante Braga), in the La Blanqueada neighbourhood. Due to various factors, it is considered a historical stadium. Built in 1900, it is the oldest current stadium in America and the fifteenth in the world. Asociación Hebraica y Macabi del Uruguay, commonly known as Hebraica Macabi, is a Uruguayan sports club based in Montevideo. Founded in 1944 by members of the local Jewish community, it is widely regarded as one of its main institutional representatives in the country. Salto () is the capital city of the Salto Department in northwestern Uruguay. As of the 2023 census it had a population of 114,084 and is the second most populated city in Uruguay, after Montevideo. Club Biguá de Villa Biarritz, better known as simply Biguá, is a Uruguayan professional basketball team that is based in Montevideo. The team currently plays in the Uruguayan Basketball League.
