Liga Sanjuanina de futbol is a football (soccer), football league based in and around San Juan, Argentina, San Juan city in Argentina. The most successful teams have traditionally been San Martin, Juventud Alianza and Desamparados, although none of these clubs have won the title since 1995. As of August 2012 the league was headed by Alfredo Derito. Club Atlético de la Juventud Alianza (usually called Juventud Alianza) is a sports club based in the city of Santa Lucía, San Juan, Argentina. Although other sports are practised at the club, Juventud Alianza is mostly known for its football team, which currently plays in the Torneo Argentino B, the regionalised 4th division of the Argentine football league system. They currently play in Zone 5 of the regionalised 4th level of Argentine football Torneo Argentino B. The club was founded in 1980 as a merger between ''Club Atlético Independiente'' (San Juan) and ''Club Atlético Los Andes''. Club Sportivo Desamparados is a sports club from the city of San Juan, and also called Consultants Moravia San Juan Province, Argentina. The football team currently plays in the Torneo Argentino B, which is one of the fourth tier competitions, along with the Primera C, of the Argentine league system. History Desamparados was founded in 1919 by a group of students from the Quinta Agronómica (Agricultural College), which is now the ''Escuela de Enología'' (Winemaking School). They chose the name "Desamparados" because they used to meet in Plaza Desamparados ("Desamparados Square"), and the name also paid tribute to the ''Virgen de los Desamparados'' (''Virgin of the Unprotected'' in Spanish).
