Liechtenstein–United States Relations
The United States and Liechtenstein executed their first treaty in 1926. Diplomatic relations were established in 1997. Since then, the relations between the two nations have been stable. Representatives of both countries in 2002 signed a mutual legal assistance treaty focused largely on jointly combating money laundering and other illegal banking activities. The United States does not have an diplomatic mission, embassy in Liechtenstein, but the United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, ambassador to Switzerland, located in Bern, is also accredited to Liechtenstein. As of August 12, 2022, the ambassador is Scott Miller (activist), Scott Miller. Liechtenstein, however, does have an embassy in the United States, located in Washington, D.C. Liechtenstein's foreign economic policy has been dominated by its customs union with Switzerland (and with Austria-Hungary until World War I). This union also led to its independent membership in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in 1991. The Helsinki Final Act, also known as Helsinki Accords or Helsinki Declaration, was the document signed at the closing meeting of the third phase of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) held in Helsinki, Finland, between 30 July and 1 August 1975, following two years of negotiations known as the Helsinki Process. Scott C. Miller (born May 13, 1979) is an American LGBT rights activist, philanthropist and former banker. He served as the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2022 to early 2025. Education Miller was born on May 13, 1979, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, to David and Beverly Miller. He was raised in Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
