Kap Farvel
Cape Farewell (; ) is a headland on the southern shore of Egger Island, Nunap Isua Archipelago, Greenland. As the southernmost point of the country, it is one of the important landmarks of Greenland. Geography Located at , excluding small offshore islets, this cape is the southernmost extent of Greenland, projecting out into the North Atlantic Ocean and the Labrador Sea on the same latitude as St Petersburg, Oslo and the Shetland Islands. Egger and the associated minor islands are known as the Cape Farewell Archipelago. The area is part of the Kujalleq municipality. Ammassivik
Ammassivik (old spelling: ''Angmagssivik'') is a settlement in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. The modern name is the Kalaallisut for "where you catch ammassaat (capelin)". Its population was 74 in 2010. As of 1 January 2024, its population was 32. The settlement was founded in 1889 as Sletten. In 1899, a school the ''Isak Lundip atuarfia'' was built in the settlement by Danish missionaries. The school had 6 students in 2005. In 1922, the settlement became a trading centre. Until December 31, 2008, the settlement belonged to the Nanortalik municipality. Since January 1, 2009, the settlement has been part of the Kujalleq municipality, when the former municipalities of Qaqortoq, Narsaq, and Nanortalik ceased to exist as administrative entities. Moravian Missions In Greenland
The Moravian missions in Greenland (; ; ) were established by the Moravian Church or United Brethren and operated between 1733 and 1900. They were operated under the auspices of the Royal Danish College of Missions until its dissolution in 1859 and were finally surrendered to the Lutheran Church of Denmark in 1900. Missionaries were allocated to the region and sometimes even sent wives who had been chosen for them and approved by the drawing of lots, a form of Cleromancy. Cornelia Lüdecke (born 1954) is a German polar researcher and author. A leading figure in the history of German polar research and the history of meteorology and oceanography, she founded the Expert Group on History of Antarctic Research within the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), institutionalising historical study and reflection for the Antarctic scientific community.
