Libertad Democrática Renovada
Renewed Democratic Liberty (, ''LIDER'', sometimes also translated as Democratic Freedom Revival or Renewed Democratic Liberation) was a centre-right political party in Guatemala. It was founded as a parliamentary group by defectors from the then governing National Unity of Hope party of President Álvaro Colom in 2008. It was officially registered as a political party in 2010. At the end of the 2007-2011 legislature, the Independent Renewed Democratic Liberty parliamentary bloc included 25 out of the 158 deputies in the Congress of Guatemala, Congress of the Republic, where it formed a parliamentary alliance with the conservative Grand National Alliance (Guatemala), Grand National Alliance (GANA). On July 25, 2016 the party was cancelled by the Supreme Electoral Court due to constant breaking of the Electoral and Political Parties Law. Mario (; ) is a Character (arts), character created by the Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. 2011 Guatemalan General Election
General elections were held in Guatemala on 11 September 2011 in order to elect the president, vice president, members of Congress, members of the Central American Parliament and mayors and councillors for all municipalities. The Patriotic Party emerged as the largest party in Congress, winning 56 of the 158 seats. As no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a second round of the presidential election was held on 6 November with Otto Pérez Molina of the PP facing Manuel Baldizón of Renewed Democratic Liberty. Pérez was elected with 53.7% of the vote. Campaign Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity and other leftist groups ran under the Broad Front of the Left banner, nominating Rigoberta Menchú as their presidential candidate. The Patriotic Party (, PP) was a conservative political party in Guatemala. It was founded on 24 February 2001 by retired army officer Otto Pérez Molina. Strongly compromised by corruption cases, the party fell from 36% support in 2011 to 4% in 2015. It is dissolved on court order in January 2017. 2003 election At the legislative elections held on 9 November 2003, the party was part of the Grand National Alliance which won 24.3% of the vote and 47 out of 158 Congressional seats of which 5 seats went to the Patriotic Party, albeit on shared tickets. Otto Fernando Pérez Molina (born December 1, 1950) is a Guatemalan politician and retired general who served as the 48th president of Guatemala from 2012 to 2015. Standing as the Patriotic Party (''Partido Patriota'') candidate, he lost the 2007 presidential election but prevailed in the 2011 presidential election. During the 1990s, before entering politics, he served as Director of Military Intelligence, Presidential Chief of Staff under President Ramiro de León Carpio, and as the chief representative of the military for the Guatemalan Peace Accords. Manuel Antonio Baldizón Méndez (, born 6 May 1970) is a Guatemalan politician, lawyer, and hotel entrepreneur. He was the leader of the "Libertad Democrática Renovada" (LIDER) Renewed Democratic Liberty party and was a candidate in the 2015 presidential election placing third and losing to Jimmy Morales.
