The Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly () is the Unicameralism, unicameral deliberative assembly of the General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It meets in the Confederation Building (Newfoundland and Labrador), Confederation Building in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the lieutenant governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, in the name of the King of Canada. The governing party sits on the left side of the speaker of the House of Assembly as opposed to the traditional right side of the speaker. Keith Milligan
Keith Wayne Milligan (born February 8, 1950) is a Canadian politician who was the 29th premier of Prince Edward Island, serving for seven weeks in the autumn of 1996. He was educated at Inverness District School, O'Leary Regional High School and the University of PEI, where he obtained Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. He is married to the former Deborah Foley and they reside in Tyne Valley. They have three children - Charles Christian (Jolene), Olivia (Shawn) and Dustin. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. It was the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to discuss the proposed Maritime Union. This conference led, instead, to the union of British North American colonies in 1867, which was the beginning of the Canadian confederation. Shawn Murphy (politician)
Shawn Murphy, (born July 27, 1951) is a Canadian politician. Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Murphy attended the University of Prince Edward Island, and later the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law, graduating with a law degree in 1976. He returned to Prince Edward Island and joined a local law practice, working alongside future Premier Joe Ghiz. In 1997, he was made a Queen's Counsel. Murphy is married and has three adult children: Kevin, Paul, and Brian. Murphy was a member of the Liberal Party of Canada in the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Charlottetown since the election of 2000. During the Martin government, he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans with special emphasis on the Oceans Action Plan. Charlottetown is a federal electoral district in Prince Edward Island, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. The district, which includes the entire City of Charlottetown, has an area of 46 km2 and a population of 34,562 as of 2011. Formerly known as Hillsborough, it was formed in 1966 from the old Queen's district, and elected its first MP in 1968. It was re-drawn and re-named Charlottetown in 2003. Lawrence MacAulay
Lawrence A. MacAulay (born September 9, 1946) is a Canadian politician, who represented the riding of Cardigan, Prince Edward Island in the House of Commons from 1988 until 2025. On June 11, 1997, he joined the cabinet of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien as Minister of Labour and Minister responsible for Prince Edward Island. In 1998, he was appointed Solicitor General of Canada and served in that role until his resignation from Cabinet on October 21, 2002, during a conflict of interest inquiry. Cardigan (electoral District)
Cardigan is a federal electoral district in Prince Edward Island, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. The electoral district was created in 1966 from parts of the ridings of King's and Queen's, with minor modifications to its boundaries since. Following the 2022 Canadian federal electoral redistribution, the riding lost all of its territory in North Shore and the North Shore Fire District, plus everything west of Highway 6 between them to Malpeque. Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island is an island Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Canada. While it is the smallest province by land area and population, it is the most densely populated. Siobhán Coady
Siobhán Coady (; born November 11, 1960) is a Canadian businesswoman and politician who represents the riding of St. John's West in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly as a Liberal.
