La Tremenda Corte
La Tremenda Corte was a radio comedy show produced from the Radiocentro CMQ Building in Havana, Cuba. The scripts were written by Cástor Vispo, a Spaniard who became a Cuban citizen. The show was aired nonstop from 1942 to 1961. Later, the format of the show was adapted for a TV sitcom in Monterrey, Mexico, however, only three and a half seasons were produced from 1966 to 1969. History Origins Cástor Vispo was born in A Coruña, Spain. He left his hometown at the age of 18, shortly after the Spanish Civil War broke out, to join his family in Cuba. While working at the El Universal newspaper, Vispo used his free time to write. Pucho Fernández
Leopoldo "Pucho" Fernández II (September 2, 1927 – July 29, 2008) was a Cuban- Puerto Rican comedian. He was the son of veteran Cuban comedian Leopoldo Fernández, known as Tres Patines. Biography Fernández was born on September 2, 1927, in La Habana, Cuba. He started working theater in Cuba when he was only 13 years old doing several minor jobs behind the curtains. However, he quickly started performing with his father in his show ''La Tremenda Corte''. In 1954, he came to Puerto Rico and was quickly hired as floor coordinator for Telemundo due to his knowledge of both English and Spanish. He was also the technical coordinator of ''El caso de la mujer asesinadita'', one of the first Puerto Rican telenovelas. He also worked with producers Henry Lafont, Gaspar Pumarejo, Luis Vigoreaux, Marta Silva, and Fernando Hidalgo. Later on, he started performing comedy sketches in ''El Show del Mediodía'' at WAPA-TV. CMQ (Cuba)
CMQ (640 kHz) was a commercial radio station in Havana, Cuba. It had a large audience in the 1940s and 1950s, attracting listeners with programs that included music, sports, talk and news. It later expanded into a television station and network. The radio station was heard on the clear channel frequency of 640 AM, powered at 50,000 watts, making it audible around the Caribbean and Southern United States at night. The TV station broadcast on Channel 6 in Havana, later expanding to seven stations around the island. History Radio The company was founded on March 12, 1933, by Miguel Gabriel and Ángel Cambó.
