Leona Lásková (born 7 April 1970) is a Czech former professional tennis player. Biography Lásková reached top rankings on the professional tour of 122 in singles and 93 in doubles. On the WTA Tour, Lásková's best singles performance came at Athens in 1988, when she made it through to the semi-finals, beating second seed Judith Wiesner en route. Her only WTA Tour final came in doubles and was also in Athens, partnering with Jana Pospíšilová to a runner-up finish in 1990. 1989 French Open – Women's Singles
Arantxa Sánchez Vicario defeated two-time defending champion Steffi Graf in the final, 7–6(8–6), 3–6, 7–5 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1989 French Open. It was her first Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major singles title. This ended Graf's streak of major singles titles at five, and was her only loss at the majors in the 1989 WTA Tour, 1989 season. Graf served for the championship at 5–3 in the third set, but lost the game to love and won only three more points from then on. This tournament marked the major debut for future world No. 1 and nine-time major champion Monica Seles; she lost in the semifinals to Graf. Karin Kschwendt
Karin Kschwendt (born 14 September 1968) is a former professional tennis player who represented Luxembourg, Germany and Austria at various points in her career. She reached her career-high ranking of world No. 37 on 12 August 1996. In doubles, she went as high as No. 45 in February 1996. Kschwendt was born in Switzerland to Austrian parents Heinz and Edith, but grew up in Luxembourg, where she lived for 23 years. Tennis career Kschwendt made her professional debut in 1986, when she played for Luxembourg during a Fed Cup tie. She continued to represent Luxembourg in the early part of her career, and in 1990 became the first female player from that country to reach the third round of a Grand Slam tournament, a feat that she achieved at Wimbledon, before she lost to Martina Navratilova.
