2 Belgen
2 Belgen was a Belgian new wave band, best known for their hits ''Opération Coup de Poing'' (1984), ''Queen of Mine'' (1985) and especially '' Lena'' (1985). History The band was founded in 1982 in Ghent by singer-guitarist Rembert De Smet (who later also focused on synthesizer) and drummer Herman Celis. Their band name literally translates to ''2 Belgians'', which ''"was the only thing we had in common"'', as they explained. The duo recorded their first single ''Quand Le Film Est Triste'' with ''Lena'' as a B-side. Their debut album ''2 Belgen'' was released the same year. When ''Lena'' became a hit, the group re-recorded it in different arrangements and languages. The 1985 version charted the highest. Their 1984 cover of Alpha Blondy's ''Brigadier Sabari'' as ''Opération Coup de Poing'' also became a hit, as well as ''Queen of Mine''. Thanks to their success, 2 Belgen expanded with additional members, making them no longer a musical duo. Celis left to join Nacht und Nebel (b ... Battle Of Lena
The Battle of Lena occurred on 31 January 1208 and probably took place near :sv:Kungslena, Kungslena, in the Tidaholm Municipality in Västergötland, Sweden. It was an important battle between the Danish-backed King Sverker II of Sweden and Prince Eric X of Sweden, Eric. Eric's forces won a crushing victory; however, in July 1210, Sverker returned with a second army and was killed in the Battle of Gestilren. Background The period 1150–1250 saw an intense rivalry between the House of Sverker and House of Eric, who alternated on the Swedish throne. The primary representative of the House of Eric, Eric Knutsson, returned from exile in Norway in 1207–08. There were marital connections between his family and the Norwegian ruling elite, but the sparse sources do not tell if Norwegian troops backed him. Sverker II fled to Denmark, where he had grown up before becoming king. All this suggests that many of the Swedish nobility rejected Sverker's rule. Sverker's relative, King Valdem ... Lenna (or Lena) is a standard test image used in the field of digital image processing, starting in 1973. It is a picture of the Sweden, Swedish model Lena Forsén, shot by photographer Dwight Hooker and cropped from the centerfold of the November 1972 issue of ''Playboy'' magazine. The image has attracted controversy in recent years because of its subject matter, and many journals have deemed it inappropriate and discouraged its use, while others have banned it from publication outright. Forsén herself has called for it to be retired, saying "It's time I retired from tech." The spelling "Lenna" came from the model's desire to encourage the proper pronunciation of her name. "I didn't want to be called ''Lee''na []," she explained. IPA pronunciation of ''Lee''na inserted into the quotation in brackets for clarity. is a common English pronunciation of the name ''Lena''. The quotation reads, "At her suggestion, the editors [of Playboy] spelled her first name with an extra 'n,' t ... Lena, South Carolina
Lena (also called Willingham) is an unincorporated community in Hampton County, South Carolina, United States, just east of Estill. Geography Lena is located at latitude 32.7535025ºN and longitude 81.2151029ºW, at an altitude of 108 feet (33 m). Early history Lena's history has largely been intertwined with the Southern Railroad (today's Norfolk Southern).
