Lebak Regency
Lebak Regency is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Java. The regency has an area of 3,305.072 km2 and had a population of 1,204,095 at the 2010 census and 1,386,793 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,407,857. The town of Rangkasbitung in the north of the regency is the administrative centre. The regency is bordered by Pandeglang Regency to the west, Serang Regency to the north, and Tangerang Regency to the north-east, and by Bogor Regency and Sukabumi Regency of West Java Province to the east. History The Lebak Regency is the regency to which the Dutchman Eduard Douwes Dekker, better known by his pseudonym (Multatuli), was appointed in 1856 as Assistant Resident. Standard Sundanese script (''Aksara Sunda Baku'', ) is a writing system which is used by the Sundanese people. It is built based on Old Sundanese script (''Aksara Sunda Kuno'') which was used by the ancient Sundanese between the 14th and 18th centuries. Currently the standard Sundanese script is also commonly referred to as the Sundanese script. History Old Sundanese was developed based on the Pallava script of India, and was used from the 14th until the 18th centuries. The last manuscript written in Old Sundanese script was ''Carita Waruga Guru.'' From the 17th to the 19th centuries, Sundanese was mostly spoken and not written. Pandeglang Regency ( Sundanese: ) is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. It is mainly located on the west and south coasts of the island of Java, and is the most westerly regency on Java Island, but it also includes a number of offshore islands such as Panaitan, Deli and Tinjil. Eduard Douwes Dekker (2 March 182019 February 1887), better known by his pen name Multatuli (from Latin ''multa tulī'', "I have suffered much"), was a Dutch writer best known for his satirical novel '' Max Havelaar'' (1860), which denounced the abuses of colonialism in the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia).
