The ''Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios'' (LEAR; League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists) was a Mexican association of revolutionary artists and writers. It was established in the house of its first president Leopoldo Méndez in 1933 from the disbanded ''Sindicato de Trabajadores Técnicos, Pintores y Escultores'' (syndicate of technical workers, painters and sculptors), and it was defined as the Mexican section of the International Union of Revolutionary Writers, which was founded by the Comintern in the Soviet Union in 1930. The first secretary of the organization was Luis Arenal. Ben Lear
Benjamin Lear (12 May 1879 – 1 November 1966) was a United States Army general who served in the Spanish–American War, Philippine Insurrection, World War I and World War II. He also competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics. Early career Ben Lear was born in Hamilton, Ontario on 12 May 1879. His military service began in 1898, when he enlisted with the 1st Colorado Infantry, United States Volunteers, for the Spanish–American War as a first sergeant. He was promoted to second lieutenant during the Philippine–American War in the 1st Colorado and later in the 36th Infantry, USV, then joined the Regular Army as a sergeant at the end of the war. He subsequently served in World War I. He was a 1912 Olympian, part of the equestrian team which won the bronze medal in the three-day team event. Roger Krevin Leir (March 20, 1935 – March 14, 2014) was an American podiatric surgeon and ufologist best known as an investigator of alleged alien implants. Leir wrote books such as ''The Aliens and the Scalpel'', and appeared on various radio and television shows, including ''Coast to Coast AM'', claiming he had discovered proof of "non-terrestrial experimentation on man". Moya Marie Olsen Lear (March 27, 1915 – December 5, 2001) was an American businesswoman and philanthropist who was the wife of aviation pioneer Bill Lear. Early life and education Moya Marie Olsen was born in Chicago, the daughter of Lillian (Clem) Olsen (1890-1990) and vaudeville performer Ole Olsen, whose Depression-era show '' Hellzapoppin''' was one of the longest running Broadway musicals in history. Leslie Lear (August 22, 1918 – January 5, 1979) was a National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) player and coach as well as an owner and trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. Football He grew up in Manitoba, Canada, where he played guard at the University of Manitoba. Lear started his professional football career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and helped the team to two Grey Cup victories. In 1944, he signed with the Cleveland Rams of the NFL becoming the first Canadian-trained player to play in the NFL. He would play a total of 4 seasons in the NFL. Nef Distinguished Service Professor in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago and served as the Roman Family Director of the Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society from 2014 to 2022. Biography Lear was born with only a first name, Evelyn, to an unwed mother in Hudson, New York, at the Vanderheusen Home for Wayward Girls.
