Lazy Lightning
''Lazy Lightning'' is a 1926 American silent Western film directed by William Wyler and starring Art Acord, Fay Wray, and Robert Gordon. Plot As described in a film magazine, Lance Lighton, a lazy wanderer, is arrested for vagrancy and taken by the sheriff to the Rogers Ranch. Dickie Rogers, an invalid child who has never walked, takes a liking to the stranger who is allowed to remain to do odd jobs and to entertain the boy. An old man who is hard of hearing mistakes Lighton for "Lightning" and the nickname sticks. Uncle Henry, heir to Dickie's share of the estate in the event of the latter's death, has been systematically cheated at cards by Bill Harvey, who now demands his money, using dire threats. Fearing a penitentiary sentence, Uncle Henry sees Dickie rolling helplessly in his wheel chair towards a cliff and does nothing to save him. William Wyler
William Wyler (; born Willi Wyler (); July 1, 1902 – July 27, 1981) was a German-born American film director and producer. Known for his work in numerous genres over five decades, he received numerous awards and accolades, including three Academy Awards. He holds the record of twelve nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director. For his oeuvre of work, Wyler was awarded the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Directors Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award – Feature Film, Directors Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award, and the American Film Institute AFI Life Achievement Award, Life Achievement Award. Wyler immigrated to the United States in 1921 where he worked first for Universal Pictures, Universal Studios in New York before moving to Los Angeles. Arthur Morrison (actor)
Arthur George Morrison (1 November 1863 – 4 December 1945) was an English writer and journalist known for realistic novels, for stories about working-class life in the East End of London, and for detective stories featuring a specific detective, Martin Hewitt. He also collected Japanese art and published several works on the subject. Much of his collection entered the British Museum, through purchase and bequest. Morrison's best known work of fiction is his novel '' A Child of the Jago'' (1896). Early life Morrison was born on 1 November 1863 in suburban Poplar. His father George was an engine fitter at the London Docks in Wapping, who died in 1871 of tuberculosis, leaving his wife Jane with Arthur and two other children. Janet Gaynor
Janet Gaynor (born Laura Augusta Gainor; October 6, 1906 – September 14, 1984) was an American actress. She began her career as an extra in shorts and silent films. After signing with Fox Film Corporation (later 20th Century-Fox) in 1926, she rose to fame and became one of the biggest box office draws of the era. In 1929, she became the first recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performances in '' 7th Heaven'', '' Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans'' (both 1927) and '' Street Angel'' (1928), the only occasion an actress won one Oscar for multiple film roles. Her success continued into the sound film era; for '' A Star Is Born'' (1937), she received a second Best Actress Academy Award nomination. Rex De Rosselli (May 1, 1878 – July 21, 1941), was an American actor of the silent era, mainly appearing in Westerns. He appeared in more than 150 films between 1911 and 1926. He was born in Kentucky and died in East Saint Louis. He also served as head trainer of the Universal City Zoo from approximately 1915 to 1917. Rex De Rosselli was described as a "silver-haired Beau Brummell" who alternated film work in the winters and circus work in the summers.
