Laurino
Laurino is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of southwestern Italy. Geography Laurino is a typical medieval hill town of the Cilento, the southernmost part of Campania. It dominates the surrounding landscape, overlooking the Calore Lucano river, which is crossed by two medieval bridges; Laurino was once known as the "pearl of the Calore". The river flows through the Cilento national park from its source up on Mount Cervati; it is known for the wildlife it attracts, such as European otters. The name Laurino probably comes from the "laura" created by the integration of numerous Greek monks of Basil observance, who lived as hermits in the numerous caves in the area. The municipality borders with Bellosguardo, Campora, Felitto, Magliano Vetere, Novi Velia, Piaggine, Rofrano, Roscigno, Sacco, Stio and Valle dell'Angelo. Pruno (Cilento)
Pruno is a forest in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is the largest woodlands of central Cilento region. The hamlets (''Frazione, frazioni'') with this name are situated in the municipalities of Laurino, Valle dell'Angelo and Piaggine, and are considered a singular village. Pruno represents one of the most unpolluted natural areas of Campania and one of the lesser inhabited territories of Mezzogiorno, Southern Italy. Villa Littorio
Villa Littorio is an Italian village and hamlet (''frazione'') of the municipality of Laurino in the Province of Salerno, Campania. As of 2009 its population was of 612. History Originally named Fogna (also spelled ''Fonga''), the village counted an ancient Fee named "Santa Maria di Vito a Fogna", that gives the informal name of ''Vito'' to the place. It was an autonomous municipality until 1875, when it was annexed to the one of Laurino. Some years after the rise of Fascism in Italy, in early 1930s its name was changed into the current one, referred to the Fasces (), symbol of the PNF. Magliano Vetere is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. As of 2011 its population was 739. History The town, anciently named ''Malleanum'' or ''Mallianum'', was first mentioned in a document of the 9th century. It was a Norman ''state'' (internal subdivision of a baronial circumdary) that included Capizzo, Stio and Gorga.
