Laurențiu Toma
Laurenţiu Toma (born 29 April 1984 in Ploiești) is a Romanian retired handballer who played for HC Dobrogea Sud Constanța and the Romanian national team. He ranked third in the 2009–10 EHF Champions League's top goalscorers list. For his services to the team and the city, and his exemplary sportsmanship conduct, Toma was made honorary citizen of Constanța in 2010. Ploiești
Ploiești ( , , ), formerly spelled Ploești, is a Municipiu, city and county seat in Prahova County, Romania. Part of the historical region of Muntenia, it is located north of Bucharest. The Romanian Handball League, commonly known as Liga Națională or more recently as Liga Zimbrilor, is the men's top Romanian professional handball league. The league comprises fourteen teams. History This sport was first played in Romania in 1920. After a visit in Germany, a few physical education teachers introduced this sport in their classes. 2009–10 EHF Champions League
The 2009–10 EHF Champions League was the 50th edition of Europe's premier club handball tournament and the seventeenth edition under the current EHF Champions League format. It was also the first edition under the new qualifying format. Ciudad Real were the defending champions. The final was played on 30 May 2010, at the Lanxess Arena, home ground of VfL Gummersbach and Kölner Haie, in Cologne, Germany.
