Laura a její tygři is a Czech musical group founded in Most (city), Most in 1985 by Karel Šůcha. They play funk, soul (music), soul, jazz, and rock (music), rock. As of 2023, the group has released ten studio albums and two compilations. Career In 1985, Karel Šůcha founded the group in the northwestern Czech city of Most (city), Most. The name, which in English means "Laura and her tigers", was inspired by the novel ''Tracy's Tiger'', by American author William Saroyan. Since their founding, the band distinguished themselves by always wearing black pants, neckties, and sunglasses, and white dress shirts while performing. Most (; ) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 63,000 inhabitants. Most is an industrial city with a long tradition of lignite mining. Ilona Csáková (born 1 October 1970, Cheb) is a Czech Republic, Czech popular singer. She has released ten solo albums, and was the best-selling singer in the Czech Republic in 1998. She also appeared as a judge on reality TV music competition ''Česko hledá SuperStar'' (Czech Superstar). Biography Csáková was born in Cheb, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) to a Hungarian people, Hungarian father and Romanian people, Romanian mother. Csáková wanted to be a singer as a child, and sang with a childhood band named Butterflies. She also learnt to play the guitar, and played the drums in the school orchestra in Klášterec nad Ohří. She participated in her first singing competition in 1985, and was a part of the girl group Alotrio. William Saroyan
William Saroyan (; August 31, 1908 – May 18, 1981) was an Armenian-American novelist, playwright, and short story writer. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1940, and in 1943 won the Academy Award for Best Story for the film ''The Human Comedy''. ''Tracy's Tiger'' is a short novel by William Saroyan. It was first published in 1951 by Doubleday, illustrated with drawings by Henry Koerner. It appears in the short story collection "The William Saroyan Reader," first edition 1958, published by George Braziller, Inc. The story of Tracy's Tiger was adapted into an original musical in two acts for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2007 season. This world-premiere production, with books and lyrics by Linda Alper, Douglas Langworthy and Penny Metropulos and music and additional lyrics by Sterling Tinsley, was directed by Penny Metropolus. Supraphon Music Publishing is a Czech record label, oriented mainly towards publishing classical music and popular music, with an emphasis on Czech and Slovak composers. History The Supraphon name was first registered as a trademark in 1932. The name was used for the label of domestic albums produced for export by Ultraphon company. After World War II, Ultraphon was nationalized and its name changed to ''Gramofonové závody''. In 1961, the name was changed to ''Gramofonové závody – Supraphon'' and later simplified to ''Supraphon'' in 1969.
