Lauda-Königshofen
Lauda-Königshofen () is a town in the Main-Tauber (district), Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Tauber, 7 km southeast of Tauberbischofsheim, and 30 km southwest of Würzburg. Most of the roughly 300 houses in the traditional village of Königshofen date to between the 16th century and mid-19th century, and it is known for the 500+ year-old Königshöfer Messe, an annual festival that attracts 150,000 people over the 10-day festival. Lauda station is at a junction of the Franconia Railway and the Tauber Valley Railway. Johann Martin Schleyer
Johann Martin Schleyer (; 18 July 183116 August 1912) was a German Priesthood in the Catholic Church, Catholic priest who invented the constructed language Volapük. His official name was "Martin Schleyer"; he added the name "Johann" (in honor of his godfather) unofficially. Life and work Schleyer was born in Lauda-Königshofen, Oberlauda (Baden). According to his own report, the idea of an international language arose out of a conversation he had with one of his parishioners, a semi-literate German peasant whose son had emigrated to United States, America and could no longer be reached by mail because the United States Postal Service could not read the father's handwriting. He was ordained in 1856. From 1867 to 1875, Schleyer served as pastor at Krumbach near Meßkirch. Heinrich Ehrler
Heinrich Ehrler (14 September 1917 – 4 April 1945) was a German Luftwaffe military aviator and wing commander during World War II. As a fighter ace, he is credited with 208 enemy aircraft shot down in over 400 combat missions. The majority of his victories were claimed over the Eastern Front, with nine claims over the Western Front which included eight in the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. Born in Oberbalbach, Ehrler grew up in the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany as one of 12 children in his family. He joined the military service in the Wehrmacht in 1935, initially serving with the artillery and anti-aircraft artillery. Lauda Station
Lauda station is a junction station in the town of Lauda-Königshofen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, where the northern section of the Tauber Valley Railway branches from the Franconia Railway. Lauda station is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. Location Lauda station is located in the town of Lauda-Königshofen, on the eastern edge of Lauda. Johann Rudolf Zumsteeg
Johann Rudolf Zumsteeg (10 January 1760 – 27 January 1802) was a German composer and conductor from the Classical period. Zumsteeg championed the operas of Mozart in Stuttgart, staging the first performances there of ''Die Zauberflöte'', ''Don Giovanni,'' and ''Così fan tutte''. He also was a prolific composer of ''Lieder'' and ballads. His ballads had a great influence on the young Franz Schubert, who imitated a number of Zumsteeg's as studies (some even in exactly the same keys) while he was a teenager. Peter-Herbert Frank (born 5 May 1968) is a German jurist who is currently serving as a judge in the Federal Constitutional Court in the second senate. Franconia Railway
The Franconia Railway () is a railway line in the north of the German state of Baden-Württemberg and the Bavarian province of Lower Franconia that links Stuttgart and Würzburg. Its name comes from the fact that the majority of the line runs through Franconia. Tauber Valley Railway
The Tauber Valley Railway (German: ''Taubertalbahn'') is a single-tracked, unelectrified, standard gauge railway between Wertheim and Crailsheim in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It runs alongside the Tauber to Weikersheim, then along the Vorbach and Blaubach rivers. It is recorded in the timetable as route no. 782. Until 9 December 2006 it had been route no. 788. History After the completion of surveys of the area in 1858, work for the Tauber Valley Railway started in 1864 with the survey of the route.
