Lassi Etelätalo
Lassi Etelätalo (born 30 April 1988) is a Finland, Finnish athlete specialising in the javelin throw. He represented his country at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, 2019 World Championships in Doha finishing fourth in the final. In addition, he also finished fourth at the 2014 European Athletics Championships, 2014 European Championships in Zürich. His personal best in the event is 86.44 metres set in Munich in 2022. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping and throwing. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, cross-country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. The simplicity of the competitions, and the lack of a need for expensive equipment, makes athletics one of the most common types of sports in the world. 2024 European Athletics Championships
The 26th European Athletics Championships were held from 7 to 12 June 2024 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. It was the third time Italy staged this sporting event after the inaugural 1934 European Athletics Championships, 1934 edition in Turin, for men only, and the 1974 European Athletics Championships, 1974 edition at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Thus, the city and the venue hosted the event for the second time after 50 years. Stadio Olimpico staged also the Athletics at the 1960 Summer Olympics, 1960 Olympic Games and 1987 World Championships in Athletics. The venue was renovated in 1990 and holds up to 70,000 spectators. 2023 World Athletics Championships – Men's Javelin Throw
The men's javelin throw at the 2023 World Athletics Championships was held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest on 25 and 27 August 2023. Summary After winning two successive championships Anderson Peters was beaten up and badly injured by 5 crew members of a party boat. Peters was able to return, but threw 78.49m in the preliminary round and didn't make the final. Across two previous competitions, only one of his throws had ever been less than 80m, three throws were over 90m. Jakub Vadlejch, the returning bronze medalist, came into the competition as the world leader for 2023 and the returning silver medalist, Tokyo Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra were top qualifiers to the final. Oliver Helander started things off with 83.38m, Vadlejch followed him with 82.59m. The first two throws of the competition would prove to be the first round leaders. 2023 World Athletics Championships
The 2023 World Athletics Championships (), the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre (Budapest), National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. The tournament returned to its usual two-year cycle after the previous event in Eugene, Oregon, United States was postponed to 2022, held a little 13 months earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are the first World Athletics Championships in Hungary. The city of Budapest had previously stated an interest in hosting the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, 2007 World Championships, but withdrew and it was eventually held in Osaka.
