Carlos Larrañaga
Carlos Larrañaga Ladrón de Guevara (11 March 1937 – 30 August 2012) was a Spanish actor. Biography Personal life Larrañaga was born in Barcelona to actress María Fernanda Ladrón de Guevara, and was the half-brother of actress Amparo Rivelles. He was the father of Amparo Larrañaga, Pedro Larrañaga and Luis Merlo, all actors, and the father-in-law of actress Maribel Verdú. Career His film debut was in 1941, at age four, in '' Alma de Dios'', directed by Ignacio F. Iquino. His first success was in 1950 with '' Pequeñeces'', directed by Juan de Orduña. He had a major supporting role in ''The Pride and the Passion'' with Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren and then starred in '' Ha llegado un ángel'' and '' El extraño viaje'', among other films. Cristóval María Larrañaga
Cristóval María Larrañaga (1758–1851) was one of the first trained physicians in New Mexico. He served in the Spanish military and engineered a successful vaccination program against smallpox in 1804 and 1805. Biography Born in Spain, Larrañaga immigrated through Mexico City to Northern New Mexico. Francisco Larrañaga Albizu, known as Txikito de Iraeta (born 14 September 1913, date of death unknown) was a Basque pelota player, winner of the 1945 1st Hand-Pelota doubles championship. Early life Larrañaga was born in Cestona on 14 September 1913. He resided with his family in the Iraeta neighbourhood, from which he took his nickname. Professional career He made his debut on 1931, but his best years as player were given between 1937 and 1942. Gorka González Larrañaga (born 28 September 1977) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2006, entirely for the team. González was the only one out of 189 enlisted riders who was not allowed to start in the 2004 Tour de France after failing a health-test prior to the race, due to a high hematocrit value. Jesus Larrañaga Churruca (17 April 1901 – 21 January 1942) was a Basque communist union leader who became one of the military leaders during the Spanish Civil War (1936–39). He went into exile after the fall of the Republic to the Francoist forces, but later returned to Portugal. He was arrested, handed over to the Spanish and executed by firing squad. Early years Jesus Larrañaga Churruca was born on 17 April 1901 in Urretxu, Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country. His father was a building contractor and his mother took in ironing. Two of his brothers were Jesuits at the seminary of Javier, near to Pamplona. James Joseph Larrañaga Sr ( ; born October 2, 1949) is a former college basketball coach. He was most recently the head coach of the University of Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team from 2011 to 2024 when he retired. Before joining the University of Miami, Larrañaga was the head men's basketball coach at American International College from 1977 to 1979, Bowling Green State University from 1986 to 1997, and George Mason University from 1997 to 2011, where he coached the Patriots to 13 consecutive winning seasons and became a media sensation during the Patriots' improbable run to the Final Four in the 2005–2006 season. Fray José de Larrañaga (17281806) was a Franciscan friar, organist, ''maestro de capilla'' of the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, composer, and was active in the Basque musical and cultural movement of the 18th century. Life Larrañaga was born in Azkoitia (Spanish Azcoitia) in 1728, and entered the Franciscan order as a young man. Although formal music in the Sanctuary of Arantzazu was still modelled on traditional Spanish models of Morales, Guerrero and Victoria, Larrañaga also had access to, and was influenced by the late Baroque Italianate style of Handel and Domenico Scarlatti.
