Langstraat
Langstraat is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee. It lies near the village of Achthuizen. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1899 as Langstraat, and means "long street". Between 1903 and 1922, a temporary church was established in two houses. In 1922, a real church was built and the temporary church was reconstructed in two houses again. Goeree-Overflakkee
Goeree-Overflakkee () is the southernmost delta island of the province of South Holland, Netherlands. It is separated from Voorne-Putten and Hoeksche Waard by the Haringvliet, from the mainland of North Brabant by the Volkerak, and from Schouwen-Duiveland by Lake Grevelingen. Since 2013, Goeree-Overflakkee has also been a municipality, consisting from west to east of the former municipalities of Goedereede, Dirksland, Middelharnis, and Oostflakkee. The largest towns are Sommelsdijk, Middelharnis, Ouddorp, and Dirksland. Despite being part of the province of South Holland, the island's scenery and dialect are more closely related to Zeeland than to Holland. Achthuizen
Achthuizen is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee, and lies about 17 km south of Spijkenisse. The village was first mentioned around 1750 as "De Agthuisen", and means "eight houses". Achthuizen has two diagonally placed centres and looks like a number 8 from the air. Most of the settlement dates from after 1930. Achthuizen was a Roman Catholic enclave on the Protestant island of Goeree. The Catholic Assumption of Mary Church is a neoclassical architecture, neoclassic church from 1846. The village has a working windmill, Windlust, Achthuizen, Windlust, which is operated on a volunteer basis.
