Estadio La Independencia
Estadio La Independencia (Spanish for The Independence Stadium) is a multi-use stadium in the city of Tunja, Colombia. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 25,000 people, and is 2,800 metres above sea level. Boyacá Chicó and Patriotas play their home games at this stadium. Before Boyaca Chico's 2008 Apertura league title in July 2008, the stadium's capacity was 8,000, but for the final the capacity was temporarily expanded to 12,000. Also with Chico's qualification to 2009 Copa Libertadores, the stadium was due to be expanded, in order to achieve the minimum 20000 seats that CONMEBOL requires to host an international match. The expansion work started in December 2008, with a total cost of 26 million COP. Tunja
Tunja () is a municipality and city on the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes, in the region known as the Altiplano Cundiboyacense, 130 km northeast of Bogotá. In 2018 the municipality had a population of 172,548. It is the capital of Boyacá department and the Central Boyacá Province. Tunja is an important educational centre of well-known universities. In the time before the Spanish conquest of the Muisca, there was an indigenous settlement, called Hunza, seat of the ''hoa'' Eucaneme, conquered by the Spanish conquistadors on August 20, 1537. Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season.
