Lake Linden–Hubbell High School
Lake Linden–Hubbell High School is a high school located in Lake Linden, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. The building houses 6th through 12th grade students, and is connected to the elementary school by a skywalk. Enrollment was at 241 students in grades 7–12. Students from neighboring areas such as Hubbell, Tamarack City, Bootjack, Traprock Valley, Gay, and Laurium attend the school. Recently, the school changed their mascot to be a lake, from the previous whiz kids. History The first one-room school house in Lake Linden was built in 1867. The building burned down and was rebuilt in 1881; in 1885 the first class graduated. The class was all females. In 1915, with the steady influx of students with the mining boom, a new building was built next to St. Joseph's Church on Calumet Street, and still stands today. Lake Linden, Michigan
Lake Linden is a village in Houghton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,007 at the 2010 census. The village is mostly within Schoolcraft Township, though a tiny portion lies in Torch Lake Township. History Lake Linden was named for an early settler. A fire destroyed most of Lake Linden in 188 Lake Linden hosted minor league baseball from 1904 to 1906. The Lake Linden Lakers played as members of the Class C level Northern-Copper Country League and Copper Country Soo League. Lake Linden was the site of a large plant to process the copper ore of the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company. Calumet and Hecla shut down the operation in 1968. Calumet High School is located in Calumet, Michigan in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. It serves grades 9-12 for the Public Schools of Calumet-Laurium-Keweenaw. The high school shares its building with Washington Middle School. History The school was established in 1867 during a copper boom in the Upper Peninsula.
