Lake Altaussee
Lake Altaussee, also known as Altausseersee, is a mountain lake located at the southwestern foot of the Totes Gebirge in the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut Mountains, Salzkammergut. It lies at 712 m above sea level. The center of the municipality of Altaussee is located on the western shore. The Altaussee Traun, which flows into the Danube via the Traun, serves as the outlet of the lake. The largely undeveloped shores and adjacent wetlands of Lake Altaussee provide habitats for numerous animal and plant species and have been under nature conservation since 1959. The Austrian Federal Forests own Lake Altaussee, which is a popular excursion destination due to its beautiful location. Bad Aussee
Bad Aussee (; Central Bavarian: ''Bod Ossee'') is a town in the Austrian state of Styria, located at the confluence of the three sources of the Traun River in the Ausseerland region. Bad Aussee serves as the economic and cultural center of the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut lakes region. Bad Mitterndorf
Bad Mitterndorf () is a town in Salzkammergut in the Austrian state of Styria. Situated between Salzburg and Graz, it is a popular winter sports resort and also as a location for walking and cycling in the summer. Bad Mitterndorf is the site of two health spas with thermal baths, an outdoor swimming pool and other health amenities, cafés and leisure areas. The town hosts a children's club during the holidays. An alluvial fan is an accumulation of sediments that fans outwards from a concentrated source of sediments, such as a narrow canyon emerging from an escarpment. They are characteristic of mountainous terrain in arid to Semi-arid climate, semiarid climates, but are also found in more humid environments subject to intense rainfall and in areas of modern glaciation. Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee () is a market town in the Austrian state of Upper Austria in the Gmunden District, district of Gmunden. It is part of the Salzkammergut resort area. A moraine is any accumulation of unconsolidated debris (regolith and rock), sometimes referred to as glacial till, that occurs in both currently and formerly glaciated regions, and that has been previously carried along by a glacier or ice sheet. Terminal Moraine
A terminal moraine, also called an end moraine, is a type of moraine that forms at the terminal (edge) of a glacier, marking its maximum advance. At this point, debris that has accumulated by plucking and abrasion, has been pushed by the front edge of the ice, is driven no further and instead is deposited in an unsorted pile of sediment. Because the glacier acts very much like a conveyor belt, the longer it stays in one place, the greater the amount of material that will be deposited. The moraine is left as the marking point of the terminal extent of the ice. Formation As a glacier moves along its path, the surrounding area is continuously eroding.
