Lagos State Government
Lagos State Government is the government of Lagos State, concerned with the administration of the state ministries. The government consists of the executive, Lagos State House of Assembly, legislative and Lagos State Judiciary, Judiciary. The government is headed by the Lagos State Governor, Governor who is the policy-maker and often assisted by the commissioners and other civil servants of the state. Office of the Governor The Office of the Governor was created along with the creation of the state in 1967. It is currently headed by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the fifteenth Governor of the State. This office is responsible for the effective coordination of all government activities for the good of the people of the State. Lagos State Governor
The governor of Lagos State is the head of government of Lagos State in Nigeria. The governor leads the executive branch of the Lagos State Government. This position places its holder in leadership of the state with command authority over the state affairs. The Governor is frequently described to be the number one citizen of the state. The Lagos State Ministry of Finance is a ministry of the Government of Lagos State, Nigeria, with responsibility for planning and implementing the state's financial policies. History The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development was established in April 1968. Economic Development was separated from the Ministry of Finance in 1995, and the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget was formed. Ikeja is the List of capitals of states of Nigeria, capital city of Lagos State in southwestern Nigeria. Its population, as of the 2006 census, is 313,196. The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is the presiding officer of the Lagos State House of Assembly, elected by its membership. The Speaker is second in line of succession to the Governor of Lagos State, Lagos State governorship, after the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, deputy governor. The Speaker also represents the members of his or her constituency. Lawmaking is the process of crafting legislation. In its purest sense, it is the basis of governance. Lawmaking in modern democracies is the work of legislatures, which exist at the local, regional, and national levels and make such laws as are appropriate to their level, and binding over those under their jurisdictions. These bodies are influenced by lobbyists, pressure groups, sometimes partisan considerations, but ultimately by the voters who elected them and to which they are responsible, if the system is working as intended. In law, ''certiorari'' is a court process to seek judicial review of a decision of a lower court or government agency. ''Certiorari'' comes from the name of a prerogative writ in England, issued by a superior court to direct that the record of the lower court be sent to the superior court for review. The Attorney General of Lagos State also known as Lagos State Commissioner for Justice is the head of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice. The officer's duty is to ensure that "the laws of the state are uniformly and adequately enforced". The Attorney General carries out the responsibilities of the office through the Ministry of Justice. Ade Ipaye
Adeola Rahman Ipaye (born 8 June 1963) is a Nigerian lawyer who served as the deputy chief of staff to the president of Nigeria ( office of the vice president) from 2015 to 2023. He was also attorney general and commissioner for justice in Lagos State from 2011 to 2015. Education For his primary education, Ipaye attended Ahmad Memorial Primary School, and St. Saviours Primary School at Agege, Lagos, between 1969 and 1975. He then moved to Lagos African Church Grammar School, Ifako, Agege, where he obtained the West African School Leaving Certificate ('O' Levels) in 1979. He was subsequently admitted into Igbobi College Lagos for Advanced Level Studies, which he completed in 1981. Joseph Adefarasin
Joseph Adetunji Adefarasin (24 April 1921 – 28 March 1989) was a Nigerian lawyer and High Court judge. He was one of the foremost students of Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos from 1932 to 1939 and studied law at University of London from 1946 to 1949. Joseph Adefarasin was the Second Chief Judge of Lagos from 1 November 1974 to 24 April 1985. He was the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from 1977 to 1981. He was the first African to hold this position and was awarded the Henry Dunant Medal, which is the highest World Red Cross award. He was married to Hilda Adefarasin. They had five children including Wale Adefarasin, Bola Adefarasin, Yinka Ogundipe, Michael Adeyemi Adefarasin and Paul Adefarasin.
