Lady Macbeth (film)
''Lady Macbeth'' is a 2016 British period drama film directed by William Oldroyd and produced by Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly. Written for the screen by Alice Birch, it is based on the 1865 novella '' Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District'' by Nikolai Leskov. It stars Florence Pugh, Cosmo Jarvis, Paul Hilton, Naomi Ackie (in her film debut) and Christopher Fairbank. The plot follows a young woman who is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age. The 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival was held from 8 to 18 September 2016. The first announcement of films to be screened at the festival took place on 26 July. Jury members Platform Jury The jury for the Platform section (in its second year) comprised Brian de Palma (American director), Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Chadian director), and Zhang Ziyi (Chinese actress). BFI London Film Festival
The BFI London Film Festival is an annual film festival held in London, England, in collaboration with the British Film Institute. Founded in 1957, the festival runs for two weeks every October.
