La Düsseldorf was a German band formed by the former member of Neu!, multi-instrumentalist Klaus Dinger, his brother Thomas Dinger, and Hans Lampe. La Düsseldorf released a string of successful albums (with sales totaling over a million) during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and were considered highly influential by Brian Eno and David Bowie, with Bowie going so far as calling La Düsseldorf "the soundtrack of the eighties". The release of their third record '' Individuellos'' was followed by a "years-long legal dispute" with the record company Warner Brothers and disagreements between the Dinger brothers. Brian Eno
Brian Peter George Jean-Baptiste de la Salle Eno (, born 15 May 1948), also mononymously known as Eno, is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, visual artist, and activist. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to ambient music and electronica, and for producing, recording, and writing works in rock music, rock and pop music. A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music. He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures. In 2019, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Roxy Music. Born in Suffolk, Eno studied painting and experimental music at the art school of Ipswich Civic College in the mid-1960s, and then at Winchester School of Art. Blue (La! Neu? Album)
''Blue'' is a 1999 studio album released under the La! Neu? name on Captain Trip Records. In most senses it is a Klaus Dinger solo album, as Dinger composed, produced, recorded and (mostly) performed the entire album alone. It was originally intended for release as the fifth La Düsseldorf album in 1987, but Dinger's contract with Virgin Records was terminated before the album's release. The 1987 rejection letter from Udo Lange is printed upside-down on the back cover of the CD. Name The ambiguity of the album's name and artist on the cover has caused confusion amongst retailers as well as fans. Whilst " La! Neu?" is prominently displayed at the top-right corner of the artwork, the cover also features the legend "'' La Düsseldorf 5''", referring to Dinger's band from the 1970s and '80s. Some have confused this legend with the album title – ''Blue'' – or been confused by references in the album booklet to "''Five Pearls and a Hammer''" – the album's original title. In fact ... Viva (La Düsseldorf Album)
''Viva'' is the second album by La Düsseldorf, led by Klaus Dinger. It has both "Rheinita", which was their most successful single, and "Cha Cha 2000", which has become their most famous song. Overall, it was their most successful release. Different mixes/edits of "Rheinita" and "Viva" were released as singles; the single version of "Viva" is slightly longer and has a fadeout, the album version segues into "White Overalls". "Vögel" ("Birds") is a minute and a half of bird noises. All songs are written by Klaus Dinger. Reception At the time of release, Smash Hits opined "If you're looking for something different or something new to pose with and say ever-so-casually 'oh, haven't you heard of them?' to your friends, then try this. It's modern German rock with lots of synthesisers but it's also bright and melodic and completely house-trained." Colin Larkin (born 1949) is a British music writer. He founded and was the editor-in-chief of '' The Encyclopedia of Popular Music''. Along with the ten-volume encyclopedia, Larkin also wrote the book '' All Time Top 1000 Albums'', and edited the ''Guinness Who's Who of Jazz'', the ''Guinness Who's Who of Blues'', and the ''Virgin Encyclopedia of Heavy Rock''. He has over 650,000 copies in print. Early life Larkin was born in Dagenham, Essex. He spent much of his early childhood attending the travelling fair where his father, who worked by day as a plumber for the council, moonlighted on the waltzers to make ends meet.
