Kurdistan List
The Kurdistan List ( ku, ليست كوردستان Lîstî Kurdistani), also known as the Kurdistan Alliance or the Brotherhood List, is the name of the electoral coalition that ran in the Kurdistan Regional Government parliamentary elections in Iraqi Kurdistan in July 2009. The Kurdistan List represented a coalition of the two main ruling parties in Iraqi Kurdistan, namely the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. It is the successor of the Democratic Patriotic Alliance of Kurdistan. The head of the Kurdistan List was the former deputy prime minister of Iraq, Dr. Barham Salih (PUK), who was later elected as the new prime minister of Iraqi Kurdistan in September 2009. Kurdistan ( ku, کوردستان ,Kurdistan ; lit. "land of the Kurds") or Greater Kurdistan is a roughly defined geo-cultural territory in Western Asia wherein the Kurds form a prominent majority population and the Kurdish culture, languages, and national identity have historically been based. Geographically, Kurdistan roughly encompasses the northwestern Zagros and the eastern Taurus mountain ranges. Ninawa Governorate
Nineveh Governorate ( ar, محافظة نينوى, syr, ܗܘܦܪܟܝܐ ܕܢܝܢܘܐ, Hoparkiya d’Ninwe, ckb, پارێزگای نەینەوا, Parêzgeha Neynewa), also known as Ninawa Governorate, is a governorate in northern Iraq. Diyala Governorate
Diyala Governorate ( ar, محافظة ديالى ) or Diyala Province is a governorate in central-eastern Iraq. Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party
Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party ( ku, Parti Sosyalisti Demokrati Kurdistan; ar-at, الحزب الاشتراكي الديمقراطي الكردستاني, Hizb al-Ishtiraki al-Dimuqrati al-Kurdistani) is a political party in Kurdistan Region. The first leader was Saleh Yousefi after 1981. After 1992, the party was led by Mahmoud Othman. The party is currently led by Mohammed Haji Mahmoud. It is a splinter of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In the 2013 Kurdistan Region parliamentary election the party got 12,501 votes (0.6%) and it won one seat in the Kurdistan National Assembly. Turkmen Brotherhood Movement
The Turkmen Democratic Movement ( tr, Türkmen Demokratik Hareketi) is a political party in Iraq that is headed by Kalkhi Najmaddin Noureddin. It acts as an alternative to the more heavily funded Iraqi Turkmen Front. The party was created by ex-Front members in 2004, who believed the interference of Turkey in its affairs was not helping the Iraqi Turkmen community and that Turkmens would do better to co-operate with the Kurdistan Region. It supports the annexation of Kirkuk to the Kurdistan Region, and is supportive of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The party won 3 seats in the Kurdistan National Assembly at the 2009 election, making them the leading Turkmen political force in that body. The party sought to obtain a ministerial portfolio following those elections. Kurdistan Toilers' Party
Kurdistan Toilers' Party ( ku, Parti Zahmatkeshan Kurdistan) founded according to the party in 1985, is a splinter from the Kurdistan Socialist Party, and later a member of the Iraqi Kurdistan Front. Led by Khalid Zangana, now it is led by Qadir Aziz. It publishes the newspaper '' Alay Azadi'' (Banner of Freedom) in Sulaymaniyya. A few cultural and ideological periodicals (''Pesh Kawtin'' and ''Nojan'') are also reportedly published and television and radio programmes put out on its own broadcasting stations.
