Kokia Discography
The discography of Japanese singer Kokia consists of fourteen studio albums, five compilations albums, four extended plays and 35 singles. Kokia has also released several music videos, mostly centred on her Mother Land management era with Victor Entertainment. Kokia has contributed to many soundtracks, mostly for games and anime. She has written several songs for other artists, most notably " Inori", a song sung by Mobile Suit Gundam 00 voice actor Ayahi Takagaki in the role of her character Feldt Grace. Three of Kokia's albums and have sold over 10,000 copies, with her most successful album, 2003's '' Remember Me'', selling 45,000 copies in Japan. Five of Kokia's singles have sold over 10,000 copies, with one of them, " The Power of Smile/Remember the Kiss," being certified gold by the RIAJ. Kokia (singer)
is a Japanese singer and songwriter performing under the stage name Kokia (styled KOKIA). Her most well known songs are (which reached number 2 in Hong Kong when it was covered by Sammi Cheng) and " The Power of Smile" (which topped at No. 8 in the singles chart). She is also recognized for her numerous contributions to anime/game soundtracks, the most notable being " Ai no Melody/Chōwa Oto (With Reflection)" for the film '' Origin: Spirits of the Past'', " Follow the Nightingale" for the game ''Tales of Innocence'', " Tatta Hitotsu no Omoi" for the anime '' Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino'', and "For Little Tail" for the game ''Tail Concerto''. G-Music
G-Music Limited is a company built in 2002 by Rose Records and Tachung Records, both are the largest local music retails and wholesale chains in Taiwan. The physical retail arms have been kept separate, for different customer bases and brand identity, but the e-retailing, wholesale and distributor business is unified as Rose Tachung Records. The two chains originally teamed up to create Taiwan's popular music ranking, the G-Music Chart (Chinese: 風雲榜 ''fēngyúnbǎng''). The chains had around 60 locations in 2002. Real World (album)
''Real World'' (stylised as REAL WORLD) is Kokia's 11th studio album, released on March 31, 2010. Kokia travelled to the Tunisian Sahara for inspiration for songs on the album. Because of this, much of the promotional material is themed around her trip to Tunisia, including the album booklet and the music video for "The Woman." Background Before the album, three digital singles were released over eight months. Dubbed the Life Trilogy (Life Trilogy ～いのちの3部作～), the three singles featured message songs for humanity. was the first of these, released in August. "Kimi o Sagashite" asked the question "What is life, and why does it disappear/why does the end come?" in its lyrics. The second single was , released in December. Christmas Gift (album)
''Christmas Gift'' is Kokia's eighth studio album, released in October/November 2008. It is her first full-length Christmas album, though she had released a special Christmas EP for fans, '' A Piece of Christmas'', in November 2006. It is the final of four albums released in 2008 to celebrate her 10th anniversary as a singer. One song from the album, "Kokoro no Rōsoku," features on Kokia's 2009 greatest hits collection '' Coquillage: The Best Collection II''. Recording Kokia began recording the album in May 2008, though refused to mention what the sessions were for. In September, the album was still gradually being recorded, with Kokia working with producer Kiyohide Ura for several tracks. The album was confirmed in Kokia's blog on September the 1st, though recording was still continuing at this point. ''The Voice'' (stylised as The VOICE) is Kokia's sixth studio album, released in February 2008. It is the first of four album releases in 2008 celebrating her 10th anniversary as a singer. Three songs from the album feature on Kokia's 2009 greatest hits collection '' Coquillage: The Best Collection II'': "Ave Maria," "Chiisa na Uta" and "Everlasting." Also featured are "Say Goodbye and Good Day," the bonus track from the French edition, along with the '' Fairy Dance: Kokia Meets Ireland'' rearrangement of "Song of Pocchong." In late 2009, "Lacrima" was chosen to be used as the ending theme song for the film Uyghur Kara Kita Shōnen. Uta Ga Chikara
is Kokia's fourth album, released in July 2004, eight months after her last album, " Remember Me." The album centres on inspirational songs, including the official song for the Japan team at the 2004 Summer Olympics, " Yume ga Chikara." The song "Utau Hito" was later used as the ending theme song for the animated film Furusato: Japan in 2007. Director Akio Nishizawa felt the song was so fitting for his film, it was as if the song were commissioned specifically for it. The song featured on Kokia's first greatest hits album, '' Pearl: The Best Collection'', as well as the B-side of her 2007 single "Arigatō... (The Pearl Edition)." ''Trip Trip'' (stylised as trip trip) is Kokia's second album, released in January 2002. It was her first album released with Victor Entertainment, and her only released under Gai Records management (though Kokia worked with both companies for her collaborations with Ryuichi Kawamura on his ЯKS album, '' Kanata Made'', in 2000). Unlike ''Songbird'', the album was self-produced. The opening track, "Chōwa Oto," was later re-arranged and used as the opening theme song for the animated film Origin: Spirits of the Past in 2006. It was released as the second A-side on the single , and also features on her greatest hits album '' Pearl: The Best Collection'' in this re-arranged version.
