Killiney Hill
Killiney Hill ( ga, Cnoc Chill Iníon Léinín) is the southernmost of the two hills which form the southern boundary of Dublin Bay, the other being Dalkey Hill. These two hills form part of Killiney Hill Park. Crowned by a monument, Killiney Hill is 153 metres high and has views over the surrounding areas: Dublin to the northwest; the Irish Sea and the mountains of Wales (on a clear day) to the east and southeast; and Bray Head and the Wicklow Mountains to the south. The hill was higher in the past but material was removed from the summit for the construction of the pier at Dún Laoghaire. The obelisk was completed in 1742 and commemorates the victims of the Irish Famine of 1740-41. Killiney () is an affluent seaside resort and suburb in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. It lies south of neighbouring Dalkey, east of Ballybrack and Sallynoggin and north of Shankill. The place grew around the 11th century Killiney Church, and became a popular seaside resort in the 19th century. It is part of the Dáil Éireann constituency of Dún Laoghaire. Amenities Killiney Hill Park was opened in 1887 as Victoria Hill, in honour of Queen Victoria's 50 years on the British throne. Killiney Railway Station
Killiney railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Chill Iníon Léinín) serves Killiney in County Dublin, Ireland. The station lies on the DART line. The entrance to the station is via Station Road. It is located about two minutes walk to Killiney Beach. History The original station was located on nearby Strathmore Road. The current station opened on 6 May 1882 under the name ''Killiney & Ballybrack'', replacing both Killiney and Ballybrack stations, the ''Ballybrack'' suffix was dropped in 1921. The original ''Killiney'' station had itself replaced the earlier '' Obelisk Hill, Killiney'' station on 1 January 1858. The station was electrified in 1983 with the arrival of DART services. Dublin–Rosslare Railway Line
The Dublin-Rosslare Main Line is a main rail route between Dublin Connolly station and Rosslare Europort, where it connects with ferry services to the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. The line between Dublin and Greystones is electrified and forms the southern part of the DART service. Between Bray and Rosslare the line is single track only.
