Kelvin Matthews
Kelvin Matthews (born 15 December 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer. He is the brother of Leigh Matthews, whom he played with at Hawthorn Football Club, Hawthorn. Kelvin was a centreman and was a member of the Hawks' 1976 VFL Grand Final, 1976 premiership side. Slightly smaller than his brother, Kelvin was heavier and skilful enough to represent Victoria Australian rules football team, Victoria in an interstate game in 1974. In a match against Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy in 1977 VFL season, 1977, Kelvin kicked eight goals and Leigh six. Kelvin also did Aussie Rules coaching sessions in the Riverina township of Ganmain in the 1970s. External links

Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. There are rules on how the ball can be handled; for example, players running with the ball must intermittently bounce or touch it on the ground. Throwing the ball is not allowed, and players must not get caught holding the ball.
