Keith Allen (politician)
Keith Reading Allen (27 November 1931 – 21 July 1984) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. He was a Cabinet minister who held the Customs portfolio from 15 June 1982 to 21 July 1984. Biography He represented the Tauranga electorate in Parliament from 1972 to 1984, when he died, immediately after the 1984 election. Allen was replaced in the seat by Winston Peters. In August 1983 there had been controversy over claims by Allen that he had been attacked while walking through the city at night. It was reported he had diabetes, and some concluded he may have been hallucinating or was intoxicated. A detailed account of the Keith Allen affair is provided by Sir Robert Muldoon in his book "Number 8" on page 154. In it he discusses the intrigues surrounding Allen's claim that he had been assaulted, the media fracas and a leaked medical report. New Zealand National Party

Jim McLay
Sir James Kenneth McLay (born 21 February 1945) is a New Zealand diplomat and former politician. He served as the ninth deputy prime minister of New Zealand from 15 March to 26 July 1984. McLay was also Leader of the National Party and Leader of the Opposition from 29 November 1984 to 26 March 1986. Following his ousting as party leader, he retired from parliamentary politics in 1987. In June 2009, he became New Zealand's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. In May 2015, McLay became New Zealand's Representative to the Palestinian Authority. From May 2016 to January 2017, he was New Zealand's Consul General in Honolulu. Early life McLay was born in Devonport, Auckland, the son of Robert and Joyce McLay. Margaret Shields
Dame Margaret Kerslake Shields (née Porter, 18 December 1941 – 29 May 2013) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. She had three terms in the House of Representatives in the 1980s and was afterwards a member of the Greater Wellington Regional Council, including as chairman. Early life Shields was born on 18 December 1941 in Wellington, and was educated at Wellington Girls' College from 1955 to 1959. She campaigned for women's rights throughout her career. In 1966, she was one of a group of Wellington women (members of Newlands Playcentre) who founded the Society for Research on Women (SROW). She was a founding member of the Women's Electoral Lobby (WEL) in 1975 which aimed to get more women into parliament and public offices. She worked at the Department of Statistics from 1973 to 1981, and served on the Wellington Hospital Board from 1977 to 1980. The Minister of Customs in New Zealand is a Cabinet members, cabinet position appointed by the Prime Minister to be in charge of matters of border control, international trade and travel and the collection of import duties and taxes to New Zealand. The minister is responsible for the New Zealand Customs Service which is the oldest government department in New Zealand. George Walsh (New Zealand Politician)
George Augustus Walsh (22 November 1899 – 15 May 1979) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. Biography He was the oldest of six children of Gemima Howan and Augustus Walsh, who got married at Foxton around 1894. He was educated at Foxton Primary School, Palmerston North Boys' High School and Wellington Technical College. He then became a farmer in Waikato and became involved with Federated Farmers. He was chairman of the meat and wool section and also on the executive of Federated Farmers from 1941 to 1957. He joined the National Party and was on the party's dominion council and executive and Waikato divisional chairman from 1946 to 1951 before being selected as a parliamentary candidate. He represented the Tauranga electorate from the to 1972, when he retired. Hugh Templeton
Hugh Campbell Templeton (born 24 March 1929) is a former New Zealand diplomat, politician and member of parliament for the National Party. Early life and family Templeton was born in Wyndham, Southland, in 1929. He was educated at Gore High School, King's High School, the University of Otago, and then as a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford University in 1952–53. He married Russian-born New Zealand novelist Natasha Templeton in Wellington in 1961. His brother, Malcolm, was a Foreign Service officer who represented New Zealand at the United Nations.
