Keisuke Itagaki
is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known for his martial arts series ''Grappler Baki'' (1991–1999) and its four sequels, which have sold over 75 million volumes. In 1996, he began working on '' Garōden'', an original work by Baku Yumemakura. He has also collaborated on the series ''Garōden Boy''. Prior to becoming a manga artist, he served five years in the 1st Airborne Brigade of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. During his service he practiced amateur boxing, and has competed in the National Sports Festival. He also holds a degree in Shorinji Kempo, which he has practiced since he was a teenager. He is the father of Paru Itagaki, ''Beastars'' manga author. , known as ''Baki the Grappler'' in North America, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. Garōden (1996 Manga)
is a series of Japanese martial arts novel series by Baku Yumemakura that have been published for 36 years with the latest (''Shin Garōden 5'') being released in October 2020. The first part being 13 volumes and the second part is 5 volumes so far. They have been adapted as a feature film, two manga—by Jirō Taniguchi and by Keisuke Itagaki (of ''Baki the Grappler'' fame)—and two video games. The film was released on January 25, 1995. The two video games are ( ja), released November 17, 2005 and ( ja), released March 15, 2007, both for PlayStation 2. The author hinted in the latest volume that the Garōden series " is getting close to its end" maybe by next volume or the following after that.
