Provinces Of Finland
Between 1634 and 2009, Finland was administered as several provinces ( fi, Suomen läänit, sv, Finlands län). Finland had always been a unitary state: the provincial authorities were part of the central government's executive branch and apart from Åland, the provinces had little autonomy. There were never any elected provincial parliaments in continental Finland. The system was initially created in 1634. Its makeup was changed drastically on 1 September 1997, when the number of the provinces was reduced from twelve to six. This effectively made them purely administrative units, as linguistic and cultural boundaries no longer followed the borders of the provinces. The provinces were eventually abolished at the end of 2009. Consequently, different ministries may subdivide their areal organization differently. Puistola is a district of Jyväskylä, Finland Finland ( fi, Suomi ; sv, Finland ), officially the Republic of Finland (; ), is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. Tourula
Tourula is a district of Jyväskylä, Finland, and a part of the Kantakaupunki ward. It is located near downtown Jyväskylä and separated from it by the river Tourujoki. The district also includes the Kangas suburb. The official district of Tourula borders Lohikoski in the north, Kangasvuori in the northeast, Halssila in the east, Lutakko in the south, Puistola in the west and Taulumäki in the northwest. Tourula was a residential area for the working class, made of wooden single-family houses which were built in the 1910s and 1920s. The area was transferred from Jyväskylän maalaiskunta to Jyväskylä in 1941, and after that the wooden houses started to decay and they were torn down during the 1970s and 1980s. Mäki-Matti
Mäki-Matti is a district and a statistical area of Jyväskylä, Finland and a part of the Kantakaupunki ward. The statistical area contains the Nousukatu, Hippos, Rautpohja, Kyllö and Syrjälä subareas. Mäki-Matti has several services such as schools, a convenience store, a pub and a R-Kioski shop. The oldest family park of Finland is also located in the district. Mäki-Matti is the first suburb of Jyväskylä to be merged into the city, which was done in 1914. History Mäki-Matti is named after a tenant farmer named Matti Matinpoika (fl. 1806-1865), whose tenure farm was split from the Syrjälä/Taavettila farm. A hill in the area was given the name ''Mäki-Matin mäki'' after Matti and his home. Eventually the name was given to the community that had developed in the area. Western Finland
Western Finland ( fi, Länsi-Suomen lääni, sv, Västra Finlands län) was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Oulu, Eastern Finland and Southern Finland.
