Kōchi Prefecture
is a prefecture of Japan located on the island of Shikoku. Kōchi Prefecture has a population of 669,516 (1 April 2023) and has a geographic area of 7,103 km2 (2,742 sq mi). Kōchi Prefecture borders Ehime Prefecture to the northwest and Tokushima Prefecture to the northeast. Kōchi is the capital and largest city of Kōchi Prefecture, with other major cities including Nankoku, Shimanto, and Kōnan. Kōchi Castle
is an Edo Period Japanese castle in the city of Kōchi, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. It is located at Otakayama hill, at the center of Kōchi city, which in turn is located at the center of the Kōchi Plain, the most prosperous area of former Tosa Province on the island of Shikoku. From 1601 to 1871, it was the center of Tosa Domain, ruled by the ''tozama'' Yamauchi clan under the Tokugawa Shogunate. The castle site has been protected as a National Historic Site since 1959, with the area under protection expanded in 2014. Kōchi Chōjō
was a Ryukyuan aristocrat known for leading a movement to petition the government of Qing Dynasty China to rescue the Ryūkyū Kingdom from annexation by Imperial Japan, following the 1872 announcement by the government of Meiji Japan to do so. It was typical at this time for Ryukyuan aristocrats to have multiple names. Chōjō held the title of ''ueekata'' of the domain of Kōchi, and was thus known as "Kōchi ueekata". He was also known as . Kōchi, Hiroshima

Kōchi Ryōtoku
also known by his Chinese style name , was a bureaucrat of Ryukyu Kingdom. In 1775, Kōchi Ryōtoku and Ie Chōkei was ordered to make the first statutory law in Ryukyuan history by King Shō Boku. The law was completed in 1786. It was called '' Ryūkyū Karitsu'' (), and was jointly signed by Yonabaru Ryōku, Fukuyama Chōki and Ie Chōkei, all were members of ''sanshikan''. Born to a Korean family in Japan, she participated in Japanese domestic synchronized swimming competitions under the name Mizuho Kōchi, and represented South Korea in international competitions under the name Kim Mijinsu, most notably in the women's solo and women's duet competitions at the .
