Denmark was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song "", composed by Lars Pedersen, with lyrics by Thomas Lægaard, and performed by Lægaard under the stage name Kølig Kaj. The Danish participating broadcaster, DR, organised the 1997 in order to select its entry for the contest. Before Eurovision 1997 DR held the 1997 on 1 March 1997 at its television studios in Copenhagen, hosted by Hans Otto Bisgård. Ten songs competed in the contest and the winner was selected solely by a public televote, which led to the victory of "" performed by Kølig Kaj. The show was watched by 1.1 million viewers in Denmark, making it the most popular show of the evening and third most popular show of the week. DR (broadcaster)
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR shares many of its organisational characteristics with its British counterpart, the BBC, on which it was largely modelled. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. Bjarne Corydon will become the Director-General of DR in August 2025. DR was originally funded by a media licence, however since 2022, the media license has been replaced by an addition to the Danish income tax. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster DR since 1957, which determines for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings. ''Atuagagdliutit/Grønlandsposten'', usually referred to as AG, is one of the two newspapers in Greenland distributed nationwide. The newspaper is published twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The newspaper was created by a merger of a Kalaallisut newspaper (''Atuagagdliutit'') and a Danish newspaper (''Grønlandsposten'') and all articles are printed in both languages. Nuuk (; , formerly ) is the capital and most populous city of Greenland, an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark. Jette Torp (born 16 December 1964) is a Danish singer and entertainer. Born in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, the family moved to Ry near Skanderborg in Jutland when she was five years old.
