Köçek (film)
''Köçek'' is a 1975 Turkish romantic drama film written and directed by Nejat Saydam and starring the famous Turkish actress Müjde Ar. Plot A romantic drama about an androgynous boy named Caniko (Müjde Ar), who is abducted by a gang and forced to dress like a woman and be a köçek. A mob attempts to rape Caniko, but when they find out he's really a boy, they stab him. He's taken to hospital where he undergoes a sex change operation. Now he works as a belly dancer and by chance, meets his buddy Adnan (Mahmut Hekimoğlu), who falls in love with him without recognizing that they are old friends. Nejat Saydam
Nejat Saydam (15 September 1929 – 25 October 2000) was a Turkish film director, screenwriter and actor from Istanbul. He began as a theater actor in 1946 and became an assistant in movies four years later. In 1957, he began directing films. Kamile Suat Ebrem (born 21 June 1954), better known as Müjde Ar, is a Turkish film actress. Biography She is the oldest daughter of the dramaturge and song writer Aysel Gürel. She left school at the age of 20, while she was pursuing a German Language and Literature M.A. at the Istanbul University. At the age of 21, she married TV director Samim Değer and started to work as a model before taking part in Turkish B movies. After making about 100 B films & family comedy films between early 70s and early 1980s, her breakthrough came with the 1984 Yavuz Turgul film ''Fahriye Abla'' (''Sister Fahriye''). ''Fahriye Abla'' was the screen adaptation of Ahmed Muhip Dranas' poem of the same name.
