Köinge, Falkenberg Municipality
Köinge () is a village in Falkenberg Municipality, Sweden. It formed a separate parish until 2005, when it became a part of Okome parish. The village has about 200 inhabitants. History The first written record of the village is found in 1362. Several alternative interpretations of the name exists. The battle of Axtorna in 1565 took place not far from the village. It used to be seat of the local district court, and did then have an execution place. A golden necklace from the Migration Period was found in 1889. A comic museum, Comicland, existed in Köinge from 1988 to 2004. Infrastructure County road 154 passes through the village, as does, in perpendicular direction, road 782, which connects the village with Svartrå and Ätrafors. The Falkenberg railway (1894-1959) had a station in the village. The building was later used as a post office and a library. Falkenberg Municipality () is a municipality in Halland County on the Swedish west coast. The town Falkenberg is the municipal seat. The municipality was created in 1971 when the ''City of Falkenberg'' was amalgamated with six rural municipalities (themselves formed by the 1952 local government reform) and part of a seventh. There are 24 original entities within the area. Today, Falkenberg holds a strong position in the food and beverage industry with companies such as Arla Foods, Carlsberg and SIA Glass having plants in the city. Battle Of Axtorna
The Battle of Axtorna or simply Axtorna, was fought between the Kingdom of Sweden and Denmark-Norway 20 October 1565 at Axtorna, a small village in what is today Falkenberg Municipality, Halland County in south-western Sweden. Battle The Danish commander Daniel Rantzau had been forced to yield the fortress Varberghus to the Swedes on 15 September 1565, after they had taken Ny Varberg, then Halland's largest city. Rantzau received the news that a Swedish army of superior strength led by Jacob Henriksson Hästesko was approaching from the east, forcing him to move his forces toward Falkenberg. Rantzau had decided to commit to combat since the Swedish force had just arrived from its march and hadn't rearranged into a militarily cohesive unit. Svartrå
Svartrå is a former village and parish in Falkenberg Municipality, Sweden with about 200 citizens. It formed a parish until 2006, when the parish merged with Köinge and Okome parishes to form Okome parish. It was a municipality between 1863 and 1951. A brook, Svartån, flows through the area. It is likely to have given name to the village which in turn gave the parish its name. Svartrå was first mentioned in 1461, then spelt ''Swa eraa''. ''Svart'' means black, while ''rå'' means owner's mark or border. The children usually attend Okome school until the age of 12, after which they attend ''Apelskolan'' in Ullared. However, the children in the northernmost part of the area spend all their compulsory education at Apelskolan.
