Kåre And The Cavemen
Kåre and the Cavemen, formerly known as Euroboys, is a Norwegian band formed in Harestua in 1990. The band changed their name to Euroboys in 1997 for releases outside of Norway and in 2000 for all releases including inside Norway. The band went on a hiatus in the late 2000s and reunited as Kåre and the Cavemen in 2014. History Beginnings Kåre and the Cavemen originally came from a smalltown north of Oslo called Harestua, and started out as a Beastie Boys inspired hip hop/punk band with founding members Kåre João Erik Pedersen (bass, vocals), Knut Schreiner (guitar) and Werner Holm (drums). They soon concentrated on punk rock, as Dag Gravem relieved Pedersen of his bass duties. In the fall of 1990, the group's musical orientation changed permanently to '50s and '60s instrumental garage rock heavily influenced by Link Wray, as Holm left and Pedersen took over the drums. During the early nineties, Kåre and the Cavemen established themselves firmly in the Norwegian ...

Easy Listening
Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to the 1970s. It is related to middle of the road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non- rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs. It mostly concentrates on music that pre-dates the rock and roll era, characteristically on music from the 1940s and 1950s. It was differentiated from the mostly instrumental beautiful music format by its variety of styles, including a percentage of vocals, arrangements and tempos to fit various parts of the broadcast day. Easy listening music is often confused with lounge music, but while it was popular in some of the same venues it was meant to be listened to for enjoyment rather than as background sound. History The style has been synonymous with the tag "with strings". String instruments had been used in sweet bands in the 1930s and was the dominant s ...

Scarborough Fair (ballad)
"Scarborough Fair" () is a traditional English ballad. The song lists a number of impossible tasks given to a former lover who lives in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The "Scarborough/Whittingham Fair" variant was most common in Yorkshire and Northumbria, where it was sung to various melodies, often using Dorian mode, with refrains resembling "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" and "Then she'll be a true love of mine." It appears in ''Traditional Tunes'' (1891) by Frank Kidson, who claims to have collected it from Whitby. Republished in 1999: The famous melody was collected from Mark Anderson (1874–1953), a retired lead miner from Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England, by Ewan MacColl in 1947. This version was recorded by a number of musicians in the 20th century, including the 1966 arrangement in counterpoint by the American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, who learned the ballad from Martin Carthy. A slightly different rendition of the ballad (referred to as "The C ...

Hava Nagilah
"Hava Nagila" (, ''Hāvā Nāgīlā'', "Let us rejoice") is a Jewish folk song. It is traditionally sung at celebrations, such as weddings, Bar and bat mitzvahs, and other Jewish holidays among the Jewish community. Written in 1918, it quickly spread through the Jewish diaspora. History "Hava Nagila" is one of the first modern Jewish folk songs in the Hebrew language. It went on to become a staple of band performers at Jewish weddings and b'nai mitzvah celebrations. The melody is based on a Hassidic Nigun, with its rhythm mirroring Prussian-Jewish composer Jacques Offenbach's "Galop infernal" from his 1858 opera, ''Orpheus in the Underworld''. It was composed in 1918 to celebrate the Balfour Declaration and the British victory over the Ottomans in 1917. It was first performed in a mixed choir concert in Jerusalem. Abraham Zevi Idelsohn (1882–1938), a professor at Hebrew University, began cataloging all known Jewish music and teaching classes in musical composition; one of ...
