or (Northern Sami language, Northern Sami; ) (also: ) is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Finnmark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the Karasjok (village), village of Karasjok. Other villages include Dorvonjárga, Šuoššjávri, and Váljohka. The municipality is the second largest by area out of the 357 municipalities in Norway. Karasjok is the 250th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,565. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 4.9% over the previous 10-year period. A survey conducted on behalf of the Sami Language Council in the year 2000 showed that 94 percent of the population are Sámi languages, Sami speakers. It is one of the most important rivers that drains the Finnmarksvidda plateau. It flows into the famous salmon-fishing Tana River near the Finnish village of Karigasniemi on the Norway-Finland border. The river begins at the small Norwegian lake of Nuorttit Rávdojávri which lies inside the Anárjohka National Park, just inside the border with Finland. The river begins high on the Finnmarksvidda plateau and then flows north through Kautokeino and Karasjok municipalities. About west of the village of Karasjok, the river turns and heads to the east. Karasjok (village)
, , or is the administrative centre of Karasjok Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located along both sides of the Karasjohka river, just west of the Norway-Finland border. The European route E06 highway runs through the village on its way from Lakselv to Tana bru and Kirkenes. The village has a population (2023) of 1,746 and a population density of . The village is an important centre in the municipality and region. About 2/3 of the municipal population lives in the village. The Sami Parliament of Norway is located in the village. It acts as an institution of cultural autonomy for the indigenous Sami people in Norway. The Old Karasjok Church and the newer Karasjok Church are located in the village. Karasjok Church
Karasjok Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Karasjok Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Karasjok, which is on the Karasjohka river. It is the main church for the Karasjok parish which is part of the Indre Finnmark prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The brown, wooden church was built in 1974 to replace the Old Karasjok Church which was built in 1807. The new church was designed by the architect Odd Østbye and it seats about 500 people. The ground plan is roughly rectangular and all the rooms on the ground level are consolidated under one roof. A low "pitched tent" roof unites with a large ridge turret that has a skylight. The building is clad with vertical panelling. The parish's assembly room, sitting room, offices, and sacristy are located towards the southeast/southwest.
