The manga series ''Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba'' features an extensive cast of characters created by Koyoharu Gotouge. Main characters Tanjiro Kamado : : is the oldest son of charcoal sellers Tanjuro and Kie, whose family was killed by Muzan Kibutsuji while he was away selling charcoal; his sister Nezuko survived, but was turned into a demon. Since then, his goal has been to find a cure for her and turn her back into a human; to this end, he decides to become a Demon Slayer. He initially trains under Sakonji Urokodaki to learn the style; he later begins using his family's , based on the original breathing style, , eventually utilizing both to create a more sustainable fighting style. He is pure and kind-hearted, always looking after his comrades' well-being and sympathizing with the plight of demons while understanding that their actions cannot be forgiven. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. It was serialized in Shueisha's Shōnen manga, manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'' from February 2016 to May 2020, with its chapters collected in 23 volumes. It has been published in English by Viz Media and simultaneously on the ''Manga Plus'' platform by Shueisha. It follows teenage Tanjiro Kamado, who joins the Demon hunter, Demon Slayer Corps after his family is slaughtered and the sole survivor, his younger sister Nezuko Kamado, Nezuko, is turned into a Oni, demon, in the hopes of turning her human again and defeating the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji.
