Kwon Oh-hyun (born 15 October 1952) is the former Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics. In 2013, ''Time Magazine'' added him to their top 100 list of most influential people. In 2014, he was awarded the Top Scientist and Technologist Award of Korea by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (). In October 2017, he announced that he would resign in March 2018, citing an "unprecedented crisis". Top Scientist and Technologist Award of Korea () is one of two annual awards given in South Korea by the with the other being a government award for contribution to science and technology promotion. The Top Scientist and Technologist Award of Korea was started in 2003 as the successor to the Science and Technology Award of Korea which was established in 1968. The award is to foster honor and pride and create an environment in which people can focus on research and development by discovering and encouraging scientists and engineers with outstanding achievements who can represent South Korea. ''Seoul Shinmun'' () is a Korean-language daily newspaper published in South Korea. The newspaper claims descendency from a newspaper established by Englishman Ernest Bethell in Korea on 29 June 1904 called '' The Korea Daily News'' (''Taehan maeil sinbo''); per this claim, ''Seoul Shinmun'' would be the oldest active newspaper in South Korea. It published in both English and Korean, and soon became significantly influential due to its ability to publish critically about the Japanese government, which was rapidly encroaching on Korean sovereignty at the time. However, mounting pressure caused it to be sold in 1910. It renamed to ''Maeil sinbo'', and largely published along Japanese colonial government lines.
