Kwon Ji-yong
Kwon Ji-yong (; born August 18, 1988), best known as G-Dragon (), is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur, known as the "Honorific nicknames in popular music, King of K-pop". Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, G-Dragon made his debut in 2006 and rose to prominence as the leader of the South Korean boy band BigBang (South Korean band), BigBang, which went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands in the world. In 2009, he released his first solo album ''Heartbreaker (G-Dragon album), Heartbreaker;'' the album and its Heartbreaker (G-Dragon song), title track of the same name were commercially successful, becoming the best-selling album by a Korean soloist at the time and earning him Mnet Asian Music Award for Album of the Year, Album of the Year at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards. 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards
The 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) was the eleventh of the annual music awards in Seoul, South Korea that took place on November 21, 2009, at the Seoul Sports Complex. Newcomer girl group 2NE1 lead the nominations with 4 counts, followed by label-mate G-Dragon, soloist Baek Ji Young, and boy group 2PM with 3 each. At the end of the ceremony, 2NE1 received the most wins with 3 out of 4 including the Song of the Year daesang award.
