Květa Pacovská
Květa Pacovská (28 July 1928 – 6 February 2023) was a Czech illustrator and writer. She received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1992 for her "lasting contribution to children's literature". Life and career Pacovská was born in Prague and studied at its School of Applied Arts, where she mainly worked in graphic art, arts, conceptual art and artist book fields. For many years she developed a career as a graphic designer and participated in more than 50 exhibitions. In 1961, she started drawing picture books for her own children. Her work is characterised by the use of geometric forms and vibrant colours, mainly red. Austrian Literature Online (ALO) is an Austrian digitization project by the University Library of Innsbruck, the University Library of Graz and the University of Linz. The First Czechoslovak Republic, often colloquially referred to as the First Republic, was the first Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak state that existed from 1918 to 1938, a union of ethnic Czechs and Slovaks.
