Kristín Eiríksdóttir
Kristín Eiríksdóttir (born 1981) is an Icelandic poet and author. Eiríksdótter's debut novel, ''Kjötbærinn'' (''Meat Town'') was published in 2004. This was followed by ''Húðlit auðnin'' (''Skin-coloured Wasteland'') in 2006 and ''Annarskonar sæla'' (''A Different Sort of Bliss'') in 2008. Her first two books were a mixture of poetry and prose while her third was entirely poetry. She was one of the winners of the Bókmenntaverðlaun starfsfólks bókaverslana with her 2014 book ''Kok'' (''Throat''). Bókmenntaverðlaun Starfsfólks Bókaverslana
Bókmenntaverðlaun starfsfólks bókaverslana ('literature prize of the staff of bookshops') are a set of Icelandic literary prizes which are awarded by the Icelandic Félag starfsfólks bókaverslana (union of bookshop staff) in December every year. The prizes were first awarded in 2000, the same year as the union was founded. The awards are made in the midst of the annual Christmas rush in the Icelandic book market (known as the ''jólabókaflóð'') and generally attract a lot of interest. Three books are nominated in each of seven categories and the winner in each category is decorated with a special mark and so easily recognised in bookshops. The union also awards Lóð á vogarskál íslenskra bókmennta during Iceland's book-week. Icelandic Literary Prize
The Icelandic Literary Prize ( Icelandic: ''Íslensku bókmenntaverðlaunin''), or Icelandic Literary Award, is an award which is given to three books each year by the Icelandic Publishers Association. The prize was founded on the association's centennial in 1989. One award is for fiction or poetry, one for children's books and one for academic and non-fiction works. Five books are nominated in each category, and the year's nominations are publicized in the beginning of December, but the prize itself is not awarded until January. Because the year's nominations come in the middle of the Christmas book flood, these books receive a great deal of marketing. Once the books have been nominated, the Icelandic Publishers Association appoints a selection committee which chooses the winners. Nordic Council Literature Prize
The Nordic Council Literature Prize is awarded for a work of literature written in one of the languages of the Nordic countries, that meets "high literary and artistic standards". Established in 1962, the prize is awarded every year, and is worth 350,000 Danish kroner (2008). Eligible works are typically novels, plays, collections of poetry, short stories or essays, or other works that were published for the first time during the last four years, or in the case of works written in Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish, within the last two years. The prize is one of the most prestigious awards that Nordic authors can win. The winner is chosen by an adjudication committee appointed by the Nordic Council. The committee consists of ten members, two each from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
