Kristín Björk Jónsdóttir
Kristín Björk Jónsdóttir (born 7 February 1974) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She was the captain of the KR team that won back-to-back national championships in 2001 and 2002. In 2001 she was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year and the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year. Playing career Kristín started playing basketball at the age of 14 with the junior teams of Tindastóll. She joined KR at the age of 17 and soon started playing with its senior team in the Icelandic top-tier league. She helped KR to its first major title in 12 years when it won the Icelandic Cup on 6 February 1999. Two months later, she won her first national championship after KR went undefeated through the regular season and playoffs. Guard (basketball)
Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different positions defined by the strategic role they play. Guard, forward and center are the three main position categories. The standard team features two guards, two forwards, and a center. The guards are typically called the "back court" and the forwards and centers the "front court". The 2000–2001 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 43rd season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league in Iceland. Ellert Schram
Ellert Björgvinsson Schram (10 October 1939 – 24 January 2025) was an Icelandic footballer and politician. Football career Club At club level Ellert played as a forward for Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur and competed at the 1966–67 European Cup, scoring two goals against FC Nantes. He played in the Icelandic top-tier league from 1957 to 1971, scoring 62 goals. He won the Icelandic Football Cup seven times with KR from 1960 to 1967. He was captain of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur when they played Liverpool in August 1964 which was Liverpool's first ever European game. KR lost the first game 5–1 and lost 11–1 on aggregate. Effedrin
Ephedrine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant and sympathomimetic agent that is often used to prevent low blood pressure during anesthesia. It has also been used for asthma, narcolepsy, and obesity but is not the preferred treatment. It is of unclear benefit in nasal congestion. It can be taken by mouth or by injection into a muscle, vein, or just under the skin. Onset with intravenous use is fast, while injection into a muscle can take 20minutes, and by mouth can take an hour for effect. When given by injection, it lasts about an hour, and when taken by mouth, it can last up to four hours. Common side effects include trouble sleeping, anxiety, headache, hallucinations, high blood pressure, fast heart rate, loss of appetite, and urinary retention. Serious side effects include stroke and heart attack. While probably safe in pregnancy, its use in this population is poorly studied. Use during breastfeeding is not recommended. Exercise-induced Bronchoconstriction
Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) occurs when the airways narrow as a result of exercise. This condition has been referred to as exercise-induced asthma (EIA); however, this term is no longer preferred. While exercise does not cause asthma, it is frequently an asthma trigger. It might be expected that people with EIB would present with shortness of breath, and/or an elevated respiratory rate and wheezing, consistent with an asthma attack. However, many will present with decreased stamina, or difficulty in recovering from exertion compared to team members, or paroxysmal coughing from an irritable airway. Similarly, examination may reveal wheezing and prolonged expiratory phase, or may be quite normal. Consequently, a potential for under-diagnosis exists.
