Tallinn Chamber Orchestra
Tallinn Chamber Orchestra (TCO, ) is a chamber orchestra located in Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia. The orchestra was established in 1993 by the conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. The orchestra's music is mainly distributed by ECM Records, but also through other labels. The orchestra has performed in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Japan, United States, and around Europe. They have performed at many music festivals, including the Bremen Music Festival, Budapest Autumn Festival, Torino Settembre Musical, and Tuusulanjärvi Festival. During 2013–2019, the chief conductor of the orchestra was Risto Joost. From 2019, the chief conductor has again been Tõnu Kaljuste. Risto Joost
Risto Joost (born 22 June 1980) is an Estonian Conducting, conductor and operatic countertenor. Life Born in Tallinn, Joost has been intensively involved with music since the age of six. He attended the special school for music in Tallinn. From 1986 to 1998 he studied choir conducting at the Tallinn Academy of Music with Anneli Mäeots and from 1998 to 2002 at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Conducting with Kuno Areng, Jüri Alperten and Paul Mägi as well as singing with Uku Joller and Nadja Kurem. In 2002 and 2003 he studied choral conducting with Erwin Ortner and conducting with Leopold Hager at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Lauri Sirp
Lauri Sirp (born 29 October 1969 in Tallinn) is an Estonian conductor. In 2002, he graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in orchestral conducting speciality. Since 1993, he has been a conductor in Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu. Since 2009, he is also the principal conductor for the University of Tartu Symphony Orchestra. Kristi Mühling
Kristi Mühling (born 28 March 1971) is a professional Estonian chromatic kannel player who specialises mainly on classical and contemporary music. She has premiered numerous compositions for this instrument, both as a soloist and chamber musician. She is a member of regularly performing ensembles such as Resonabilis (founded in 2002) and Una Corda (founded in 2009). Kristi Mühling is also the founder of the chromatic kannel specialty at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and has worked there since the establishment of the specialty in 2002. Estonian Academy Of Music And Theatre
The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the Estonian Academy of Music. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Estonian Composers' Union (abbreviation ECU; ) is an Estonian creative union which encompasses professional composers and musicologists in Estonia. The chairman of ECU is Märt-Matis Lill. Since 2005, ECU is a member of the International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM). As of 2021, ECU has 120 members.
