Kristian Fredrik Grøn
Kristian Fredrik Grøn (23 October 1855 – 1931) was a Norwegian dermatologist. He was born in Kristiania as a son of physician Andreas Fredrik Schroeter Grøn (1819–1905) and Maren Birgitte Schroeter. His brother Andreas Fredrik Grøn and brother-in-law J. F. O. Semb were also notable physicians. After finishing his secondary education in 1872 he graduated from university with the cand.med. degree in 1880. In 1874 he met Sigmund Freud while both were working in Kristiania (Today Oslo). Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of 1,064,235 in 2022, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. ''Hvem er hvem?'' () was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. From 1938, the plan was to publish such a book every three years, but the Second World War made that impossible. At the time, such a book was published annually in Denmark and every two years in Sweden. In the 2008 edition, edited by Knut Olav Åmås, one thousand persons were selected for presentation. About one third of the articles are longer, signed biographies, while the rest have a shorter, more encyclopedic format. The latest edition was edited by Knut Olav Åmås and narrowed down to 1,000 people. This differs from the older ones in style in that the articles are in a more journalistic style with personal characteristics, in addition to the purely biographical year information. Examen artium was the name of the academic certification conferred in Denmark and Norway, qualifying the student for admission to university studies. Examen artium was originally introduced as the entrance exam of the University of Copenhagen in 1630. The University of Copenhagen was the only university of Denmark-Norway until The Royal Frederick University in Christiania was founded in 1811. In Norway, examen artium was formally discontinued after the 1982 class (but the term is still sometimes used informally to denote the diploma from today's " videregående skole"). Sigmund Freud ( ; ; born Sigismund Schlomo Freud; 6 May 1856 – 23 September 1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for evaluating and treating psychopathology, pathologies seen as originating from conflicts in the Psyche (psychology), psyche, through dialogue between patient and psychoanalyst, and the distinctive theory of mind and human agency derived from it. Freud was born to Galician Jews, Galician Jewish parents in the Moravian town of Příbor, Freiberg, in the Austrian Empire. He qualified as a doctor of medicine in 1881 at the University of Vienna. Upon completing his habilitation in 1885, he was appointed a docent in neuropathology and became an affiliated professor in 1902. Freud lived and worked in Vienna having set up his clinical practice there in 1886. Following the Anschluss, German annexation of Austria in March 1938, Freud left Austria to escape Nazi persecution. Tertiary Syphilis
Syphilis () is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium ''Treponema pallidum'' subspecies ''pallidum''. The signs and symptoms depend on the stage it presents: primary, secondary, latent or tertiary. The primary stage classically presents with a single chancre (a firm, painless, non-itchy skin ulceration usually between 1 cm and 2 cm in diameter), though there may be multiple sores. Ullevål Hospital
Ullevaal Stadion () is an all-seater football stadium located in Oslo, Norway. It is the home ground of the Norway national football team, and the site of the Norwegian Cup Final. From its opening in 1926 to 2009 it was the home ground of FK Lyn and from 1999 to 2017 was a home ground of Vålerenga IF. With a capacity of approximately 28,000, it is the largest football stadium in Norway. The national stadium is fully owned by the Football Association of Norway (NFF). The stadium opened on 26 September 1926 as the home ground for Lyn and several other local teams. Carl Rasch (physician)
Carl Emanuel Flemming Rasch (7 February 1861 – 6 July 1938) was a Danish dermatologist and venereologist who in 1900 coined the term " polymorphic light eruption", following his studies of the effect of sunlight on the skin. He was one of the specialists involved in the care of the author Karen Blixen, whose medical history has been the subject of debate by physicians and biographers. Rasch was the co-founder of the Nordic Dermatology Association (NDA) and wrote the first Danish dermatology textbook. Early life Carl Rasch was born in Copenhagen on 7 February 1861. He was a student of Ernest Besnier who first described prurigo gestationis, later known as ''prurigo gestationis of Besnier''.
