The Cantons of Togo are the third-level administrative units of the country, after regions and prefectures; which in turn they are subdivided into villages. They are similar to communes or sub-districts or sub-prefectures of other French African nations. As of 2013 there were 387 cantons, grouped within 35 prefectures. Assoli
Assoli is a prefecture located in the Kara Region of Togo. The capital city is Bafilo. At the time of the 2022 census it had a population of 66,394 people. Flag Of Togo
The national flag of Togo consists of five horizontal stripes, alternating between green and yellow, with a red square bearing a five-pointed white star in the Canton (flag), canton. It is one of many Flags of Africa, African flags that use the pan-African colours of green, yellow, and red. Togolese artist Paul Ahyi designed the flag in 1960, just before its adoption on 27 April of that year, coinciding with Togo's proclamation of independence. Regions () are the first-level administrative divisions of Togo. They are subdivided into prefectures, which can be further broken down into communes. Each region has an elected regional government and a capital city that acts as its administrative seat. The regional governments have jurisdiction over some local affairs, but most powers are shared with the national government. Kara Region () is one of Togo's five regions. Kara is the regional capital. Other major cities in the Kara region include Bafilo, Bassar, Kpagouda and Niamtougou. Kara is divided into the prefectures of Assoli, Bassar, Bimah, Dankpen, Doufelgou, Kéran, and Kozah. Kara is located north of Centrale Region and south of Savanes Region.
